Why is it that when you enter a caption/description into the image properties of an image you imbed in an article, it doesn't show anywhere? Mousing over the thumbnail in the article just shows the image title, and when you click the thumbnail to view it full size it just shows the date, time, file name and Prev/Next and Close buttons.

Do I have something wrong in my settings or is this just how it is with vB? If the latter it doesn't make much sense. Why provide a field to enter a caption/description if it's never going to display anywhere?

If you read about the properties for an image tag - http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_img.asp - you will see that the alt property, which is used for the description, is the alternate text for the image, or what you see if the image doesn't show up (or isn't available).

Well, no where on the image settings screen does it say "Alt Text". It says "Description". Had it said Alt Text I would have understood exactly what that field was for and not mistaken if for a place to "describe" what's being shown in the photo via a "description." :)

If you want to enter text that is shown when you hover over the image, that is the Title text in the popup box.
