This is true ... but none of them work very well. :(

@OP: I just finished writing my own, though it'll be a while before I'm ready to share it. (I know that doesn't do you any good, but I would like to vet it first, then clean it up before release. I want to release several mods next year that I did in 2011 and 2012.) If you're good with PHP, MySQL, and searching this site, then you can do the same thing.

I want PHP code for recent post OR recent activity (per category / forumID) NOT rss feed.

Why I dont want rss feed??
because rss only show recent thread but the answere of thread they can't to show!

Take a look at the query in packages/vbcms/item/widget/recentposts.php and modify that query to only grab from a certain forumid.
