There are quite a few people looking for an auctions mod, e.g.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=276045
I currently have a paid for version of Mary's Classifieds (see: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=267194) which ChrisTeris dropped and left me in the lurch with. It is good but has some real bugs. I have been looking for someone to take it on and fix the bugs, but I ended up paying for nothing (though I managed to get my PayPal payment back).
I think there would be a lot of grateful users if someone came up with an auctions mod, perhaps they could do a free one and a paid for like most developers.

I suggest you just use normal forum threads. They give a superior experience to these.

While my new forum is still in Beta I was experimenting with Mary's Classifieds also but it got dumped before all the bugs were solved and I had to look also for another solution.
I couldn't find anything similar and had to come up with another solution.
I started using this MOD: Easy Forms: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=234385.
It doesn't automate the whole process like the Classifieds mod did but now at least all my classifieds threads have the same look and looks pretty neat.
You have tons of possibilities to create those forms and the poster has to fill out the form which then gets posted as a thread. You can even make it possible when the user clicks on the "new thread" button for your classifieds forum he always gets directed to that particular form. This way all your threads will look similar.
Below are a few screenshots to show how my form and threads look like.
Maybe this might help a little to replace the Classifieds mod.

Thanks, but not for me; too basic.

I set up a automotive classifieds for a friend on a 3.8 site using Easy Forms by bananalive, Thread Thumbnails by Null Parameter, Mark as Sold by venom2124 and a few conditionals. I also edited the forumdisplay template to hide the normal New Thread button & added Create Ad button just for the classifieds forums.
This is a link (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=296406) to directions using 3.8,,, Everything I used to create his classifieds can also be found in 4.0, use it as a quide, yes its simple but what more do you really need?

Well, I plunged in and bought it for our forum.
My experience with Lionel was very positive. He helped me fix a problem with emailing of bids and it turned out not to be his program's fault at all but Yahoo email deferring email from our site.
The software seems to work very nicely. I would change a few features if I could, like the ability to allow the lister to select how long the listing will run rather than doing it by category, but overall, it was what my users wanted, and that is what counts!
Thanks, Lionel.

By the way MicroHellas aka Maria aka ChrisTeris transferred all her scripts rights to me today. Once I go thru them and convert them to 4.2.0 I will be adding 17 more scripts to my already large collection of 26
Unfortunately you set the price for xx days per category. But the auction automatically closes when owner at any time set a winner or someone performs a Buy it Now. At expiration a cron sets the higher bidder above reserve as the winner.
I think it's better to set a price for a specific amount of days. Why would someone pay for 30 days and set his duration for 7, specially when during those 30 days he could terminate at any time.
And after xx days he could also extend his listing.

I created two categories for each category- one for a 7 day auction, and one for a 3 day auction. So if you want to sell a machine, you choose either machine- 7 day auction or machine- 3 day auction.
I would like to talk to you about one of Chris' scripts I bought and had issues with. If it can be fixed and improved, it could be a very nice product. I will PM you on that.

Come to my site and let's talk about it so I put it on top of the list. Unfortunately I am a bit busy now a day. I just picked up a rather large account, a pharmaceutical company with 300 servers world wide with multiple wharehouses in the US and they are keeping me busy with one project after another one, from barcoding to iphone APPS. They are using IIS and I introduced them to vBulletin and they fell in love with it.

REMOVED
The short of it... We don't want to see stuff you've already been bickering over posted here on this site, simply not needed as this is not a discussion board for what you feel someone did right or wrong it's a discussion board about vBulletin modifications.

Only for those who are looking for a simple solution, I'll release tomorrow a mod for General Classifieds (For Sale, Wanted, For Trade, Free Offers). If you're looking for heavy solutions like my previous one (MarysClassifieds), this is not for you, as it has only 10% of those features. The good news is that this "10%", is covering the features that the average forum owner wants.
Why I'm saying it? Because I tried to use my old mod in a site that I'm operating for my small town (around 10 ads per day), and I found it so difficult to operate it. That's why I wrote from scratch a slim version... very slim... but it covers 100% of my site's needs.

Will you by chance make this for 3.8?

Sorry if I'll disappoint you, but as I wrote, I coded this for my own use, and I'm using vB4. But I'll gladly give permissions (for free) to anyone who has the knowledge to port it to vB3. The admin area code is compatible between vB3 and vB4. The frontend needs modification. As I know the vb3 coding style, it does not needs more than 1-2 days of work.
