for vBulletin, when you purchase it, has a complete individual forum permissions... each sub-forum has it on its own... moderation, subscription etc... no matter how many depth your forums has, you can handle each of them individually... if you do not touch them, they are handled by their parent...
you can see the tutorials here:
https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/usergroup_managing_forum_
and good luck, we'll be happy to help you with your future licensed vBulletin !

OK, if I understand you correctly I will be able to achieve the following:
EG. I am the owner of a motor spares company. I have 12 different racing teams that I sponsor and support (they are no relation to each other.
SO 12 complete individuals.
I would like to give each of these 12 teams his own SEPERATE forum within the main forum.
Each will add and manage his own content entirely on his own.
Each will have its own moderation team.
NO one should be able to have access to any of the other NOT EVEN MODERATORS
Would this program do that?

hum, shown that way is against the license rules which state that you can't "sell or lease" part of your site to individuals who handle their own administration team...
that may be why the guys overthere said it was not possible...
the problem is that you want to handle multiple forums in a single place... a free solution "may" be better for you then, like phpBB... but if you charge your team owners the price of the license and offer them the management of their site, which would be similar to what you want, yes you would be able to do something like you ask... plus the more licenses you buy, the lower the prices...
but i would suggest you hire a real community manager for that kind of project before going ahead... because that's a lot of job, and if you fail to deliver after a period, these guys will remember...

I answered your question and the answer is still no- you cannot appoint moderators who have total admin-like control over their own forums AND appoint their own moderators as well.

Bird of Prey i do not see any previous messages from you on the thread so i dont understand yur coment that yu have told me before.
Lasltly --- there is NO LEASE or Selling..thre are many forums ( v bulletin ) like angling , 4x4 , and gun sites that have clubs under subforums . All we wanted was for the clubs to have privacy to certain topics in there sections , hence permissions.
THATS ALL.
i will take up the offer and buy the full package from ipb as they do not seem to be rude but friendly.
We are also a fully fledged company that has full time employees to rum more than a dozen forums. DO NOT JUDGE.
You know the old expression about assumptions .

Newbie1, all you have to do is create a separate userGroup lets say "noClowns" or groups "noClowns1" "noClowns2" etc
Then you create a forum /forums lets call it "notCircus" "notCircus2" "notCircus3" etc
When done open the forum's)each one individualy) permitions and edit the user groups right (to see, to write etc)
After you done assign moderators for the "notCircus" forum/forums
And finaly you might grant the permision to become "noClowns" to users: manually or trough promotion or trough subscription.
About the moderators, make a user of forum a moderator of forum but don't move them into Moderators usergroup or Create separate usergroup "ModsForNoClowns" edit the usergroup rights and don't forget to edit the forum permissions as well
Did I answer you question?
Also you might wanna to read a little bit in mans

I meant I answered your question when you posted it on vbulletin.com or emailed vbulletin support. I think it was by email.
I was not intending to be rude only that the official answer received from vbulletin support should trump advice you may get from other customer on this site. This is primarily a site for modifying vbulletin and does not set policy.
