I am evaluating vBulletin Publishing Suite 4.2.0 for a community project.

I am interested in hiding contents of articles from certain user groups.

I noticed there are several mods which allow you to do this in forums.

However, not in articles.

Are you aware of mods that allow you to hide contents in articles in the same way as in forums?

Awaiting your reply,

Thank you,

dweezil

When you create an article, you will put it in a section. There are permissions you may apply to sections for each usergroup on whether that usergroup may view the section at all. You may want to try out the demo at https://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo.php

That would set permissions on global article level.

What I mean is to limit access to PART(S) of an article to specific usergroup(s).

Very much what the "vFCoder Hide Hack 4.x" does for forums.

That way, you will be able to shield parts of an article to usergroups you specify.

Ideal for teasers: show the first few paragrahps of an article, for instance.

Just enclose parts of the content you want only certain usergroups to be able to see, in BBcode:

...content...

I cannot believe that this is not already implemented in some way.

What good is any Content Management System without tools to manage accessibility?

dweezil,

You are currently showing up as unlicensed.

To be able to download modifications and/or receive support here at vBulletin.org, we ask you to please click here (http://members.vbulletin.com/membersupport_priority.php) (vB-Germany users click here (http://members.vbulletin-germany.com/membersupport_priority.php)) and enter your email address. You will need to use your customer number and password (which will be in the email you got when you paid for your license) to access that page. Please note that your email is case sensitive.

To protect our customers privacy you will also need to Opt-In to license validation for all Support Sites. You must authorise vBulletin.org in order to validate your license status here. You can do this at the page linked above for your distributor. Make sure to set the permission to allow vBulletin.org to validate your status.

The update of your account can take up to one hour.

Thank you.

Of course I show up as unlicensed.

I haven't bought anything, have I?

Excuse me, but this is the Pre-Sales Questions forum, isn't it?

I am seriously interested in your product, otherwise I wouldn't put serious time in investigating it's features, don't you think so?

Can you recommend a way how I can limit access to parts of a CMS article to specific usergroups as I explained earlier?

Awaiting your reply,

dweezil

Sorry, I hadn't noticed the forum I was in. When I go through the site, I view several threads at once and sometimes don't notice the forum.

We have no sort of teaser tag like what you are talking about. I would *think* you may be able to use, or modify, the spoiler tag to have it work for you and to only allow certain usergroups to be able to use it, but I am not familiar enough with the spoiler tag code to know for sure.

Ahhh, that rings a bell.
I am going to check that out.

Thank you, Lynne!
