I've added a new questions and also changed it. I've added email validation and we are still getting 5-6 spammers sign up and post spam on our forum and it's always in the same area on our forum. I've now signed up for reCAPTCHA and I hope that helps, If not how can I stop these spammers? Please help.

I wouldn't call myself an expert on anti-spam measures, but on our site (my own, not this one), we have Glow Host spam-o-matic (which ForceHSS linked to above) and use questions and answers, and we get 5-10 spammer registrations a day. I believe they're actually humans and there's really nothing that can be done about it (assuming you don't want to moderate registrations or block certain countries by ip). In any case it's a trade-off between making it easy for real people and making it hard for spammers.

If it's autospam, this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=135094) eliminates all of it, without all the massive glut of code and such that spam-o-matic has.

I have been using this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=230921&highlight=vbStopForumSpam) for years, I may get 1 or 2 a week that slip through the cracks, but they never post.

Use that on a few of my forums, it is the best one out there, a few get though to post but if you set it up right that's all they can do post, they can't add links or spam words so it's easy to catch them out.

Maybe we'll try that. But we rarely have a spammer who posts (well, a few times a week I guess), and we find those quickly (we actually have too many moderators at this point). Most of the "spammers" just want to post a link in their profile somewhere.

The one posted above says that it's "reported to work" with the latest version of vbulletin.

Try the vsa advanced registrations. I was getting 10 spam sign ups per week. I used glow hosts spam-o-matic but so many users were complaining it prevents them from signing up because it thinks they are a bot. I even tried signing up myself and it said I was a bot...

Anyway advanced registrations include some random questions you can think of to ask...if you put about 10 or so that are randomly picked and a spammer gets through it is because they are human. My forum has been clean snce I installed vsa advanced registration and added the questions

Only Random questions will help you.reCAPTCHA not work 100% with spammer bots.
