missing threads

Hello i received a message to day that there are a few very large threads gone from my board. The only people with the ability to delete them are me and the user who started them and neither of us did so. Is there a way to recover the threads with out doing a whole restore from the server? please help thank you

Are you positive they are gone? Have you checked your database?

The only way to restore threads that are completely gone from the database is to restore a backup database from before the threads were deleted.

could you please give me instructions on how to look for them in the database...thank you

Are you familiar with phpMyAdmin at all? If so, look in the thread table and see if a thread with that title is in there. Make sure to select "%LIKE%" when doing a search on the title if you are only searching for a phrase in the title and not the *exact* title name.

thanks for the help unfortunately they are not there, is there a way to find out who and when they were deleted or if it is some kind of malfunction. i really cant have this happening and since it was not me or the original poster i need to know why this happened. thanks for any suggestions

Did you check your Admincp > Statistics & Logs > Control Panel Log to see if it is shown there? Did you check your access_logs (if you don't know where they are, ask your host) for that day to see who entered the admincp and modcp that day and verify those IPs are your actual admins/mods? Did you check your server access logs to see if anybody but you has logged into the server (and thus had access to the database)?
