after several years of working fine won't load?

I have two paid (owned) copies 3.73 I believe both are the same, one each on different sites. both worked fine until today. hosting company checked and they say they have not done anything that would cause problem. both websites are on different hosting servers. when I click the link to open vBulletin the following is what I get on both sites. the addresses are different, but the messages are the same and line numbers:

Your host upgraded PHP to 5.3.x or higher, that old version of vb wont work on it, you either need to upgrade the sites to 3.8.x or get the host to roll back PHP to 5.2.x

hosting company checked and they say they have not done anything that would cause problem.

When they say that, it always means they know they done something wrong
