I have an older version of VB and want to try hosting a forum again.
What I don't know is what I should get in the way of hosting service. I don't know if I need one with unlimited bandwidth etc, or not. I realize that the amount of use means everything, but is there an estimate for something like 100 users with an average of 100 posts a day? No photo galleries or other extras.
Thanks for any advice

I would stay away from any unlimited host. There is no such thing as 'unlimited hard drives' haha
I would choose a shared hosting to start out. Have a look around webhostingtalk.com

What about monthly bandwidth? I see one place that has plans with 45, 90, 180, 360GB. Do you have any idea how much bandwidth is used for 100 or so users, all posting text only?

For a new site; I would say you would be good with anything above a few Gigs of bandwidth. Unless you will be hosting/posting large quantities of images or video.

OK, thanks. That is what I need to know. This place offers 3000M disk space and 45G monthly as their base level. Should be good to start. Thanks Kevin.

You are very welcome.
Also always make sure to have your own backups of everything in case anything were to ever happen.
Good luck on your new venture!

I would go with HostGator. My site is running off of the hatchling plan (first month was $0.01 with promo code you can find on Google) and my site never loads slow. Of course, when we get more members/posts per day, I will upgrade to a HostGator VPS but I love this host and you will love it too, especially the speed and customer support! :)
