I've always been a fan of the default style - maybe change up the color a little bit though to make it a little more interesting.. and maybe throw an icon of some sort into the logo..

We added a favicon, but the logo isn't my domain ;)

On the old phpbb forum, we had the same theme as the rest of our site, but we ran out of money, so we couldn't get a custom theme for the vbulletin forum :(
