Not at present however this is something we are working on

Probably not worth updatin for you m8. Unless you have any usernames with foreign chars or want to update phrases. The addition of the the breadcrumb phrase is for people who want to completely change the phrase membermap from the whole product.

All I get is attached pic. I click on "Update Your Location" and nothing happens. I enter a name in search box and click "enter"... nothing happens ... all files are installed in correct locations.

I realize this mod was written for vBulletin 4.2, but is there anyone out there we can "contract for fee" to get it running under our 4.1.3 version?

Bare with me on this. I may well test this under 4.1 myself at some point, however want to ensure everything is perfect before I do. There will be nothing else being added for V1 of membermaps now so you shouldnt have to wait too long.

I didn't realize you had intentions of adding a 4.1 version in future. Just so I don't distract you from your current mission of finishing 4.2 version, I'll wait unti you're ready. I'd be happy to beta test a 4.1 version whenever you start that process. ... ;)

Its quota on the individuals site, however chances of you hitting that are minimal. If you are concerned then limit it to members only view and the chances of you hitting it then are practically nil unless you happen to own one of the biggest forums on earth. I have plans in adding that. Along side with the ability to hide/show certain icons so you can only see the currently online users for example and other stuff that will be coming soon ;)

As far as I know simply the ability to see the usage (and how many queries you have still left). The other possibility is to pay to raise the query limit but I doubt it'll be needed for this alone as it only shows a map and does a few location searches, not anything heavy.

We have 920, lol. It has been made and tested with that amount of markers on it so it should be able to hold at least 1k markers and still be fast and stable :p

Try setting them to 51 and 10 :) May want to change zoom level if you want to just show germany

None public at the moment. If it is showing but not saving I would guess that you may not have uploaded the dcmembermap_update.php file to the root of your forum folder. If your still having issues please let me know the URL of the forum you have installed it on and I will have a quick look for you if you want

update your location drops the pin. You then move that pin to where you want it and click save. I have not tested this at all for version 4.1 and although I hope you manage to get it working it does state this modification is for 4.2.x

EDIT: I believe there are some on here who have got it working in 4.1 but have had to play around with it a little so may be worth sending them a message.

Upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.0.4 and it no longer works. Never saves your location. Refresh the page and the marker has gone. Even uninstalled and re-installed but result is the same.

All files are uploaded to the correct locations. (using vB4.2)

All works fine, apart from that little problem. I can`t choose any usergroups...

For further updates it would be nice to have a integration in the userprofile and it will be nice for the user, to have not so big markers if you see the whole map. now it's like a blue-bubble-world ;)

Thats quite at odd one. If Im honest I would probably try reinstalling as something has gone oddly wrong there.

You can change the markers to whatever you wish, just change the images :) . We are working on integration with profiles at the moment so this is something you will see in future versions :)

No problem at all m8. Honestly not sure what could be wrong in your case if Im completely honest. Im at a bit of a loss. The only suggestion I can make is if you provide me with the relevant access I can have a look for you and see if I can get it up and running.

Went and deleted all the files I uploaded and then uploaded the latest version again now all is working. I can only guess that a file was skipped when uploading last time..

I am guessing that it's not meant for vBulletin 4.1.10 it's for vB Version: 4.2.0 or higher... But then I don't think it matters that much for what this product does?

Then right mouse click somewhere in the middle and select "What's here"
An arrow will show up on the map where you did your right mouse click.
When you hoover over it it will give you the coordinates. Put those in the settings from the membermap mod here.
You might have to play a bit with the zoom level in the settings to get the result you want

I suspect a lot of people were trying it on vBulletin 4.x versions prior to 4.2, just to see if it would work. We did that on our 4.1.3, but it never shows the map, so we un-installed it and have been waiting for a 4.x version to download and try.

Actually I dont think its a bad ratio anyways... Assuming a download is literally every download and there have been a few fix releases and betas then people will have downloaded on more than one occasion. Not to mention the people who have downloaded it to add to warez sites :rolleyes:

All you need to do is to set the lat/lon to where you would like the central location to be within the admincp options for the modification. The same applies for the zoom level you would like.

It could using ip geocoding, however I coded this for exactly the opposite so not likely to be something I will be adding. Doing so would mean not everyone can run it, and the purpose of this is that everyone can.

That's my problem, though - I don't HAVE usergroup permissions because it's not showing the selection box. Upon further investigation it appears that anyone in the default "Registered Users" "Moderators" or "Administrators" groups can access the map OK, but anyone who has a custom group as their primary group is unable to access.

Yes you can by changing the css file. Find the dcMembermap.css template and locate .mapcontainer and #map. Both have a height property you can change (make sure both heights are the same). If you have trouble locating it, just ask :)

The plugin just wasn't really needed so I was making room. Now I can't get it to go away. All files are gone from my server. Yet it still shows up in Products Manager and all my icons & logo are gone from my site. Any ideas?

Ok, hired a programmer who got it running for us in 4.13pl5 and it's working really well...

We also added legend, so members knoew what the balloons meant .. :D

Now, a question ...

We want to change the "No Avatar" graphic to one we use on our site when a member has no avatar. I substituted the "noavatar.png" in /images/misc/dcMembermap subdirectory with our PNG file, but it's still displaying the old graphic? :confused:

I flushed vbOptimize, cleared by cache, reloaded my page, but it's still the old graphic.

Edit: Never mind.. fixed the problem ... looking in wrong area for PNG storage ... ;)

I may have spoken a little too soon about this mod running "well" .. :D

It's only been live for a day or so, but we're already seeing anomailes... :confused:

For example, there's a pin on the map not connected to any user? It's there and if you hover over it, no name appears. If you click on it, then the window opens showing an avatar, but it's the avatar that belongs to the user who is logged in viewing the map at that time, however, there's no name in the window box?

How does one edit the database of "pins" and clear out garbage phantom entries like this?

OK, you can remove entries in the dcmembermap table if you want to get rid of any. Not sure on why you are getting phantom ones and have looked at mine to see if there are any and there arent. Have any users been deleted from your database? Just asking as this is something that wouldnt be taken into account as to be honest was something I hadnt thought of.

There will hopefully be an update to this version at some point, then that will be the last one until I have had a look at doing one for vbulletin 5.

If anyone is having this problem and has no problem in giving me access to their database I am willing to take a look, however failing that Im at a loss as I cant replicate the issue.

I've got two problem entries so far. One that has a pin, but no username entry associated with it, but it picks up and displays the avatar of the user who's currently logged in and viewin the map. The second is just a valid user who stuck his pin in the middle of the ocean. Rather than having to go through PM'ing him to remove it and all that nonsense, I (as an Admin) would just like to click on it and delete it.

There is no function for you to do so at the moment no. Something I will certainly bare in mind whilst doing the next one. The only way at the moment is to ask the user to remove or to remove yourself in the database. Not ideal I realise, but its not been written in as of yet.

For now, I'll turn it off and wait for an update that let's Admins edit out the pins...

There's no point in removing myself in the database as that's not the problem...

The problem is dumb users who leave a pin in the middle of nowhere, but with 20,000 members, there's bound to be a few like that .. :D

The bigger problem is the unassociated pins that seem to turn up randomly, which could get out of control and lead to chaos if Admins can't simply delete them...

Understood, but as you can clearly see from the pic attached in the original post, some condition of confused coding is creating the problem of a blank username (or not present), being displayed with an avatar belonging to the current user viewing the map.

May I suggest an improvement? Wouldn?t it be nice, the members could be added automaticly to the map through a custom profile field? What I have in mind is a profile field where the user are typing in their location like "London" (at best while registration, for all others it?s a required field, so they have to stop by to continue posting) and a switch "Shall your location be visibile to other forums members in our MemberMap? (Guests have no access to the MemberMap)".

That way all users would be informed about the new MemberMap feature, all members have to check the settings and - as experience tells us - the vast majority of new registrations would enable the visibillity.

I guess this would improve the numbers of visible members in the map drasticly ;)

I just checked the Map using IE and i get the same thing you get, are you using IE, if so try Firefox or Chrome

@tekram: all picture are on the right place - like the "howto" (structure like the upload-folder). i dont use a custom-style (just a little diffrend to the original eg: color, title-pic and so on)

For whenever I uninstall the map, where exactly are the member locations being stored? Do I need to manually delete them from anywhere after I uninstall? I like to keep my directories as free from clutter as possible and just want to make sure there's no left over files.

Just a little return of experience...

I was experimenting white pages using this mod (while it was working in the past). It was due to a lack of memory caused by the huge number of markers to display on the map.
I could change that by adding
ini_set("memory_limit", "256M");
just after the tag "<?php" in file dcMembermap.php (at the VB root)

While looking at the code, I can see that it is not optimized for huge number of markers.
I'll try to improve that and share a proposal ;)

I see in the template there was going to allow custom locations. Is that a possibility? Even if I have to hard code it into the php.

Run an airsoft forum. While it's good for members to see who is close, I would like to mark the airsoft fields as well with a different graphic. That way it is easier to spot on the map.

If you change the internal link it sends to Google to just HTTP:// it starts working again, but I don't know hw to do that in his code.

Here is an update but it doesn't help much. I changed all instances of http in the XML file to https. I then went to products and reimported the XML file choose to write over the previous settings.

The map now loads but is dark and watermarked "development" version. All my pins are there but you can't zoom the map in any way.

From what I can see, it has something to do with the API key. I don't know where to go from here.

Just a small update. Yes, it actually seems to be working properly. Pins are there ad link properly. You can zoom and use the map just as before. But the map is dark and marked for development purposes.

Come on folks, I am certainly NOT a coder and know little about what I am doing. Surely there is somebody here who knows more about this than I do that can help get this worked out.

It appears that nobody cares but I do have this running properly on my https site now. It can be done. It requires that you get your own Google API and put in the code though. Working great. I'm not a coder and finally paid for some help with it but there really isn't another product that works as well for what I needed.
