Well as a newbie I have been doing some work on my site and would like some feedback. I am sure there is more room for improvement and your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

very nice job, i like it. Nice logo and color scheme .
however, there are 3 things that i would change:
replace the status icons with custom ones.
put a border around username and password in toplinks.
fix the sidbar title.
Leave everything else as it is. :up:
p.s. post a link to your site so people can find it. :D

Thanks for the feedback. which sidebar title were you speaking of?
I have been looking for some new icons that would match my style to avoid having to make them myself, but no luck so far.
I will mod the border today :)
I thought the link would be obvious from the signature picture :erm:
Thanks again!

This is how I am seeing your site main news page (pic 1) so I would say it is not aligning correctly. The forum side your follow me text seem to be off a bit (pic 2)

Strange, the main news page is showing correctly to me.
On the forum sidebar , the title of the widget is a bit off (see pic2 in previous post).

What is your video resolution on your monitor? I have the minimum size of the page set to 1152

Yeah I am not sure how to align the widget header on that. Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated.

float: none;
overflow: hidden;
padding-left: 3px;
white-space: nowrap;
width: auto;
}

I'm looking at your site right now.
the side bar is fixed.
The background from toplinks is gone and toplinks are to low.
Do you remember the color that you used?

while looking at your site there 2 more things i noticed.
in profile the about me section header text is quit dark and in view site leaders the name is invisible.
to fix add following code in additional css:
.userprof_headers {
background-color: #434430;
background-repeat: repeat-x;
color: #FFFFFF;
}
.blocksubhead a {
color: #222222;
text-decoration: none;
}
Not that i want to be a pain in the butt, but i was looking at your site anyway i noticed it.

Not a pain at all I can use all of the feedback I can get. I bought VB in April?? and I am very new to this. So I appreciate the tips and suggestions. Adding the .userprof_headers now.

I have been working with vb for a few years and there is one thing i learned: there are always new things to learn. I still have to learn a lot about vb too.
there is so many things that you can do and add to a style, its unbelievable.

The PC I used to check it out is running on 1024 x 768, maybe I should also check it out on my gaming PC with a higher resolution but that will still not help those running on a lower resolution I suppose. I always try and make sure my forum works on both high and low resolutions.
Edit - Just had a look now that you did those changes and it now shows as it should. However the page is now wider than my screen so I need to scroll from left to right to view the edges. I am personally not a big one on this but it does now look a lot better overall. I would also look at maybe adding a favicon to your site

Yes the favicon is on the new icons list. I think the majority of users have at least a 1200x monitor these days. At least the ones that would usually be hitting my site. When your spending $4,000 on a rifle/scope an LCD monitor is a drop in the bucket.

I didn't do anything, honest.lol
I don't use a proxi, so which ever modification you have installed, there are probably others like me who get that same message.
Remember, ISPs and such are not as easy to understand as you might think.
Another big site had this same issue a few months back, a load of us from here couldn't get onto the site, until we told the guy about this and he took away the modification he had installed.

mayby this is a stupid question, but how do you make it work for both high and low resolution? Do you need to do that for fixed width skins too?

Hi,
It looks like this when logged out. I was mistaken, its not just IE9 it is both IE9 and Firefox when logged out. When logged in it is just a slim contrasted green background to the toplinks.
Thanks,

I was about to sign up at your forum but stopped when I noticed the captcha you have for human verification. Captcha has long been cracked by bots. The programming for bots now is so sophisticated they can actually "see" the image and input the correct response. Otherwise a human operator can verify the image and cut the bot lose.
A well thought out Q and A would be better. Not too hard but not too easy.

That's what I posted 2 posts above.
But I was ignored by the look of it.
Hard to say anything about a site when you can't even see it;)

No you weren't ignored I didn't see it as I was working on the mods. The captcha is the one built into vBulletin. Between that and the registration questions I have added there haven't been any intrusions into the site. Easy to keep track of 30 users.
