Is anyone else having major problems with blog spam?

What can I do to prevent blog spam? I got 3900 spam messages to the blog over the past 2 days.

I got hit 2 days ago for 323 spam blogs in 2 hours. What a pain to erase 1 by 1

Make a new user group based off registered users. Change registered users permissions so they can't post in blog then make a promotion from registered user to new group when they have x amount of posts
