After a Long break from skinning and from managing websites I'M BACK! ok i'm a little rusty and i HATE the new vB4 stylevars and stuff (i know a lot of you skinners do too) so anyway i had a PM about re-making one of my most downloaded skins for vB4 so i decided i needed some practice and to try out the new system for myself. So here it is my first vB4 skin!

This skin is an adaptation and re-make of my famous (sort of) skin found here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=121835

This new skin incorporates as much as i could to resemble the older skin but with a modern re-vamp, Obviously i'm expecting there to be a few bugs or mismatches with colors so i'm relying on you guys to let me know and i'll try and squish any bugs found as soon as possible.

This guy made me want to start up again after reading some of my old mod comments: Capper5016 wrote "Man, i have never seen anyone so friendly and helpful as Neo....This community is extremely lucky to have someone like him around."

So yeah i will hopefully be churning out some more skins in the foreseeable future once i've learnt (and mastered) the art of this new business with vB4. hopefully you nice folks will be able to guide me along the way and teach me as i go.

Anyway enough talk a few pointers i'd like to make:

1. This skin was developed on vB4.1.12 (the latest one before vb4.2.0 so i can NOT confirm it is compatible with this version or higher (although i'd assume it will) Hence why i put the mod version at vb4.1.x

2. Please feel free to comment, rate and leave feedback or suggestions on this skin, or any advice you can give me to improve.

3. Please do NOT remove the copyright notice unless you've paid for branding free, to find out about that options please PM me on my site as i don't check vB.org that often however i WILL try and sort out any problems and questions as soon as i can when i'm around.

4. please don't bash me.....i bruise easily :P

5. Enjoy your new skin BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

where is the file to change the header?

i was a bit of a retard and didn't save a PSD of the header so people will have to make their own for it, however the file for the header should be in the images/pbb/misc/pbbv4.png area, let me know if you cannot find it still :)

If you guys can give me some idea's i'll try and incorporate them in the style, i wasn't intending on adding much as i wanted this style to be easy to install and be suitable for forum load times and stuff but if you guys want it to be a bigger better skin then i shall do my best to deliver :D.

Unfortunatly i'm not a great coder so i'm limited to making skins look nice rather than adding in features. I might try making a skin similar to that which you linked to but this skin was designed to replicate/update the vb3 one i did way back. however i will try my hand at updating it with some tweaks and modifications to the looks and i'll update the ZIP once i'm done.

as far as i'm away this skin should work for 4.1.12 but please let me know if you run into any difficulties and i'll see what i can do, theres no major template edits and i originally made the skin on 4.1.10 and i've had no problems myself using it on 4.1.12 and 4.2.0 hence why i put the version to 4.2.x.

i'll have a look into these problems and come up with an update over the next few weeks, the reason you may have those issues is because i'm poor and do not posses the CMS for vBulletin so i can only assume what it'd look like (I used vBadvanced) also i'm not sure if theres an option for the CMS if you don't have it in the styles bit, however if you want to let me have a look at your site i'd be more than happy to attempt to fix it, if not then if you could give me any info as to where or what style vars the CMS uses, that'd be awesome as i could go fix it. thanks for the heads up on the colors i'll see what i can do to fix them. :)

Could one of you link me to your sites so i can use firebug to determine which attributes are being used for those color problems?

Sorry for the delay i've been having problems with my PC so not been able to look at the issues, i'll have a dig through the CSS and see if i can find a fix for these issues. Those of you using DB-Techs Statistics i recomend asking over at DB-Tech which attributes the styles are using then i can perhaps give you a fix for the grey/white text there. but i'll see if i can do it myself :D. Thanks guys for the great feedback :)

EDIT: Thank you all for the bugs you found, i'm currently working to iron them out, so far i'm working on a re-color of the activity stream so it looks nicer. and i'm trying to fix a few issues with the sidebars and things not coming out the correct colors (i'm hoping i can borrow admin access from one of the members that contacted me to figure this one out since i don't own the elite suite version of vB so i don't get the sidebars).

Other fixes i'm working on include some text color issues on a few areas of the skin and once these are fixed this skin is pretty much complete :)

I really like this skin and am currently using it on my forum. I just noticed that the colors for polls could use a change, text is too light to read.

i'll have a play about with the poll stuff to make it a little more easy on the eye,

@simonhind i'm not too sure how thats happened, could you let me know how you managed to get this bug, is it on every page or just home page? reason i'm asking is there are very very little coding edits in this style so it may be conflicting with a mod you have installed. which banner are you talking about as i can't quite tell from the screeny. i would recomend re-downloading and installing the skin again and see if it still happens, if it does try disabling your mods one by one and see if its one of those that is causing the problem. if it still doesn't work i'll be happy to have a go at fixing it for you but i can't garentee i can fix it since i'm not too brilliant at coding.
