View Full Version : Is this possible?

Ok so there are multiple people DDoSing my site, including ex-owners.
Doesn't bother me personally, as I've moved on from managing hacking sites, but I have a load of members who have donated, and I'd feel bad not doing anything to help.
So I had an idea, would it make sense to have my database on one server, and multiple other servers to house the files (All synchronised), so when one server is attacked, it automatically switches to the next and so on..
The servers would obviously connect to the database via remoteSQL, so provided the server housing the database isn't attacked, site should be fine.
This way, the attacks will have to be divided up in order to down ALL of the servers. (Kind of similar to a reverse proxy + load balancers but eh)
My questions are;
1: Is it possible
2: Can I have multiple sites connecting to the same database
3: Would I just have to list the other servers as backup nameservers under my dns options?
4: Would you say it's an effective method to manage DDoS attacks?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

I want to have copies of my site on different servers so that if one goes down due to a ddos, the others will be used.
All will be linked to the database on another server.

But Brother Whats servername You Use In Domain ?
You Now Domain Working With One Server If You Make 2 Accounts In same Server Then Domain Problem Solved.
Brother I Hope This Is Possible But One Time One Server Working You Use Diffrent Database Names In Both Forums And Use 1 Time 1 Server
I Mean If You Using Your 1st Forum Then You Look Any Problem Then in ftp includes/config.php Remove Your datebase And all Info Then Save.
Then Open Your New Cpanel And Use 2nd cpanel And Then Add Database Info In New config.php
Brother My Advise This Is Too Difficult For You
You Try My First Reply Use Dnp Firewall And Security System

Didn't really understand what you said, but I'm looking to mirror my vBulletin setup on multiple servers, your plugin suggestions aren't going to help mitigate an attack from a 40k botnet.

Otherwise If You Want To Use 2 Servers Then You Need To Install 2 Forums With Diffrent Database Name.

Saldy? lol and yeah, if the servers had unlimited incoming bandwidth and reasonable iptables settings?

Hardware firewalls to drop packets that it isn't expecting.
A large enough round robin, or clould style setup.
Both of those still require enough resources(bw/cpu/memory/etc) to deal with the incoming traffic.
