Every time i try install i get this and i have installed vb on servers many times and did config files no problems i don't know why this is!!
Step 2) Connect to the database
Attempting to attach to database
Error description: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) /home/content/80/9319180/html/Forums/includes/class_core.php on line 311
The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the 'includes/config.php' file.
And all info is correct in database!!
Someone asked this exact question not too long ago, and it turned out that the problem was that the servername "localhost" did not work. That person said something about finding the correct server setting by running phpMyAdmin but didn't say exactly how. (I suppose he ran phpMyAdmin and just looked at what it connected to).

That is correct. Goddady does not use localhost as server name. You can get the hostname at the db section where you create a database or by launching phpmyadmin and it will appear next to the database name on top. Or you can contact godaddy and ask them about it so they can email it for you.

I do agree even if I never used them. Only that is not allows mail() function, says a lot for the quality of services.

A godaddy support personal, Gabe W, just sent me this information:
You can locate your MySQL connection strings in the Hosting Control Center.
To Locate Your MySQL Connection Strings
Log in to your Account Manager.
Click Web Hosting.
Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
In the Databases section of the Hosting Control Center, click the MySQL icon.
Click the pencil icon next to the database you would like to get connection strings for to open its edit features.
Click the Configuration icon in the menu bar.

When I did some work for a client who also had GoDaddy, it seemed that GoDaddy automatically blocked my IP address because the upgrade process of vBulletin through the website interface sends a bunch of requests to GoDaddy's servers which essentially made it seem like I was sending a DoS attack to their servers. I had to wait an hour every time this happened which caused the upgrade process to take ages.

Modern Godaddy is not Godaddy of yesteryear. Parsons stepped down in late 2014, and it's been improving ever since.
For shared, it's actually quite decent these days.
The real "shit hosts" in 2017 are EIG brands (Hostgator, Site5, Arvixe, etc)..
