:) I there,
No, I don't want to keep looking for this, as I already am for a entire week. So this is my last resorce!
I would like to believe vBulletin has a cms/portal system that can manage to show the latest threads in the portal. That's the idea, and everyone knows about the vbAdvanced... The problem is... SMF has it... Phpbb has it... Why can't vbulletin have a damn portal with thread previews? I'm talking about something big, something that show part of the topic it self.
Why is so hard to get it? It doesn't even exist!
Sure it easy if you know how to program it... But I can't, It's not my area, so here I am, asking for somoane with the skills and effort, to help me (and thousends of other folks) to finally have a decent cms system!
What's this mod idea? It's simple, when people opens the website, they reach the portal/cms page, where they can browse through the recent threads, and they must be able to watch some part of the content. Plus, this showed content must be enebling BBcode, as I (and everyone else) preferes to be able to see images and emoticons. :D
And yes, I do know that vbadvanced has this Dynamic system, but... It's only for ''Articles''... As it doesn't work with forum threads. There fore, it's useless for what I want! (Can't believe I payed 50 bucks for that...)
Anyway folks, there are a lot of people who would love to have a decent mod or something that could interact with the cms and expand it. After all, vBulletin is probably the only forum system who forces the clients to choose joomla or wordpess for a cms/portal... Seriously...
Anyway, thanks and have a nice day!

There is the CMS - https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/content.php There are widget to show Lastest Posts or Latest Threads or several other things. Latest Threads is not shown on that page, but Lastest Posts are (along with several other widgets).

Thanks, but that's articles I believe...
Anyone who make a new Thread doesn't show on the cms... Unless the oficial vbulletin website as dissabled that option.
Can't waste money on that till I know for sure...

There is indeed an option to show latest threads on the CMS. It's called the "Latest Thread Widget" and you put it on the CMS layout wherever you want. It is not enabled on vbulletin.com.
If you go to my website: http://www.qapla.com/mods/content.php
It is enabled under the article. I changed the title to "Latest free vBulletin Mods" but it is the standard "Latest Threads" widget- I simply limited it to pull threads from my mod forums.
I could choose any forums (or all forums) to pull threads from, and how many threads I want to show.

Hi there BirdOPrey5,
Thanks for the replay, so... You can control how much text you want, acepting images and BBcode?
Thank you.

You can choose the max number of threads and number of days back to check by widget.
Smilies and bbcode work, no option to disable.
The default preview length is hard coded to 150 chars, you'd need to edit a file to change it.

That sounds good. However I just purched the regular licence, with no cms or blog. The price is far to high for something that should be free in the biggining.
As vbulletin is far the best software when comes to forums, I though the comunity would have some awesome cms/portal for free. But no, and this is a huge let-down for me, as other systems as phpbb or even SMF have great portals for free!
I still believe something is wrong with all of this... Someone must act and change this situation, some team or programmer. After all my research, I came up with a lot of people who are begging for this, but we are forced to go with joomla, wordpress, etc.

The cost of the Suite isn't only for the Blogs and CMS- it also includes unlimited ticket support for the life of the product. 1 year of ticket support alone costs nearly as much as the upgrade to the suite alone.
You already mentioned vBAdvanced- would probably be fairly easy to add thread previews to their latest threads widget or whatever they call it. If you haven't done so already you should ask over at their forums on how you could include previews.

Here's the support we get; http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47813
As you see, not much... Just a changing code, but nothing else. No options, no add-ons, nothing!

Hmmm... well they do give you instructions on how to get the preview- but it won't have the bbcode or smilies because those are filtered out.
Unfortunately changing the previews to show bbcode and smilies would probably take some file edits to the vbadvanced code and it's not something I use on VB4.
Good luck- I hope someone can help you find what you are looking for.

Where can this preview text be adjusted? I know there is a preview adjustment in the content setting in the admincp but I want to adjust the preview text for the recent posts or threads widgets. Is this possible?
Thanks

I think he is talking about the same issue I have been trying like hell to solve lately which is having recent threads with a large section of the post displaying in the primary content area without being there as a promoted article. I have been asking over and over if there is any solution and have yet to get a single helpful reply.
One of those widgets could work if the amount of preview text could be increased. Add the posters avatar and images from the post and it could be a decent addition and would really lessen the need for having to promote threads to articles..

I am still working on this but I modified the recent threads widget file to increase preview text. Still working on customizing for images, etc
