Will replace the boring "Welcome, nexia." with something customized by the hour. You can edit each phrase to fit your fun.

as you see in the screenshot, the phrase "fit" the moment of the day, and when you hover the entire line, you now see what time it is when you load the page, instead of having to go to the footer to read it.
.. take note that "nexia" is replaced by your members name...
nex_welcome_x_link_y_00 => Browsing by midnight, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_01 => Look, it's dark outside, nexia!
nex_welcome_x_link_y_02 => nexia, don't you think it's time for bed?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_03 => Sure you'll be hard to keep awake today, nexia...
nex_welcome_x_link_y_04 => Shut, everybody's sleeping, nexia!
nex_welcome_x_link_y_05 => Welcome on this new day, nexia.
nex_welcome_x_link_y_06 => Early morning, nexia!
nex_welcome_x_link_y_07 => Breakfast time, nexia!
nex_welcome_x_link_y_08 => 'Morning, nexia.
nex_welcome_x_link_y_09 => Welcome to another day of work, nexia.
nex_welcome_x_link_y_10 => Where's the coffee yet, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_11 => Hum, hungry, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_12 => Dinner time, nexia!
nex_welcome_x_link_y_13 => Let's get back to work, nexia!
nex_welcome_x_link_y_14 => So, having a nice day, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_15 => 'Hope you enjoy your visit, nexia.
nex_welcome_x_link_y_16 => Clearing the day off, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_17 => Supper Time, nexia.
nex_welcome_x_link_y_18 => What's on the News tonight, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_19 => Homeworks, nexia, homeworks.
nex_welcome_x_link_y_20 => Aren't the kids in bed yet, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_21 => Time for some popcorn, nexia.
nex_welcome_x_link_y_22 => Need a massage, nexia?
nex_welcome_x_link_y_23 => Unable to sleep, nexia?
these phrases are the one used by the engine, without any template edit, any function added, it's a simple replacement, and it works on the fly, so you do not have to bother if the user see the right sentence for its hour of browsing.

note: september 24th, 2009: debug of the date function to display in other languages. vbdate() was replaced by date() so the sentence is ok. Just import the product again.

october 6th, 2009: another fix regarding the date, dropped the "local" call so any language is supposed to display at the right time...

this version works for all versions from vB 3.6 until now, since it's a very very simply hack without code edition...

You can do the same thing in the other one. All you have to do is edit the phrase, just like you would have to with this one.

hum, people, if you need support with "the other one", please do in its own thread... thanks Boofo for the info!

i'm not releasing this plugin to compete "the other one"... i just update tools that i released years ago that could still be useful in vB 4.x... this one was not edited a single bit, it's the same code for 6 years, so imagine, vBulletin did not change that much hey!

Is there something that needs to be set or installed more? I don't see these welcome messages (when I unhid'em), I've installed only the biggest xml in the package.

there is no setting for this feature, nothing to do, really... it's just a phrase replacement, so when you browse your site, it shows in the header where the phrase is supposed to be... if you have a non-custom head message though!

Could you paste the none custom message here? And where it should be? I'm not sure I haven't changed it, I thought I didn't. I'm sure I modified the default phrase though, but then I checked with the default one as well, and still haven't seen anything.

the reason why your site is not showing the text is that you use the DBTech Notifications engine which override it... i'll see what i can do about it!

I have tried it on my test site which dosent.. but thanks for looking in to it, really appreciated..

I don't use DB's Notifications though.

Oh, by the way, I'm quite hesitant on adding anything left of the username again. Could it be possible to make a version that would add that text below the options on top?

this could become a custom work, if you really need something similar in a specific location...

Ah, yeah, but before that, it still doesn't work at all >.<

Could you send me the code that it's supposed to change and rely on? As in, the default thing in the template, I'd compare it with the current one.

there is no code change... it's a phrase change. if your theme was edited or updated from a vB 3.8x theme, it may even have the wrong phrase in the theme.

search for " welcome_x_link_y " in your header template...

Emeralda

<li class="welcomelink">{vb:rawphrase welcome_x_link_y, {vb:raw bbuserinfo.username}, {vb:link member, {vb:raw bbuserinfo}}}</li>

This is how it looks like in my header.

For phrases themselves, I tried removing the custom phrase, nothing. I tried putting there the default one, also nothing. So I dunno >.<

strange, because you have exactly what is needed to the plugin to work...
