... from the editor.

I'd really like to streamline the reply boxes with less functions for people to use. While it's a very good thing for those of us who are fairly capable and used to them, for some it's very confusing. On my board most of those options aren't even needed or used.

So if I can remove some of them, or at least comment them out in a certain template, it would be great.

Would be great if someone who really knows this stuff well would make a mod that allows us to keep or remove whatever we'd like in an easy fashion within the ACP.

Anyway if anyone has an idea where I can look to do this I'd appreciate any help.

Thanx

I don't know of a mod that lets you choose the configuration (although there may be one). But if you look at vb/ckeditor.php, function setToolbar() you can see how the buttons are set for each editor location. A plugin using hook editor_toolbar_set could configure the toolbar with any buttons you'd like (but I realize this isn't the programming forum).

Thanks... I'll take a look at it and see how badly I screw things up lol.

Maybe I should post this to the programing forum also and see if anyone can make a mod for this. From your description it doesn't seem that complicated... for those who know of course.

Thanks again

ok I spoke way too soon. I cannot find 'function setToolbar()' within the ckeditor.php

There's more than one file named ckeditor.php - I meant the one that's in the "vb" folder.

yeah.... that makes sense since you wrote vb/ckeditor... DOH! Been a while since I've poked around in the files.

I've found the needed lines and I think I can make some head way now with it.

It would be great if vB had this ability from within the ACP. Would be much easier and cleaner.

Thanks again

You could just make it so there is no Editor toolbar for newly Registered Users in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Registration Options > Default Options > Message Editor Interface > No Not Show Editor Toolbar. Then they would have to go into their Settings and change it to a WYSIWYG editor manually.

Lynne, that's true and I thought of that. Still might do it too. But my intention is to streamline the toolbar as most of the options are very rarely if ever used on my forum. People comment, upload pics and use the smilies for the most part. Maybe some use the text formatting tools like color or font, font size, but that's about it.

I'd really love to make the inline photo upload process as simple as possible as well. Even more simple than the settings in the ACP allow for already. My board has members who still find it a bit confusing.
