News Plugin

Does anyone know if there is a news plugin that will allow a person, in the back end to add news stories (title, url)? Maybe the stories would show up as a sidebar widget, and a link to the news archive.

I know this is very simple, but it would be better than using HTML for each news story. Note, that I don't want to use RSS, the reason being is that I would for example want to grab one relevant news story from CNN, one from FOX, one from Local ABC affiliate etc... The organization that I work for is in the news a lot, so I basically want to only pull news stories that are about our organization. Thanks.

Could you create a forum for news, then use New Posts forum block (or Recent Forum Posts widget) and configure it just for that forum?

Just use the RSS and only include the words you want

I use RSS from a gaming site and have set it to ONLY post RSS feeds when "NGG" comes up
You can set it to words or a sentance

How do you import the RSS and out put on a page, etc, Betts?

Go to the site your news is posted on

Does it have an RSS feed ?

If so just click it and copy the link

Go in to your ACP and "Add new RSS feed"
Enter the Title "Your News" or whatever you want it to be called
Enter the URL, Enter the RSS feed link you copied

If you expect long story's set the "Items to fetch" to cover it

Search Items for Words - Now this section is where you input the words/sentences you want
If you have a site called xxx.url then you could put xxx.url in this box
Or if you want say "This is news on my site", This will the ONLY post news that has xxx.url and "This is news on my site"

So it will search for single words, Or if you have a sentence then put " at the start and end

So ONLY feeds that contain the above will be posted

I have mine so it posts new feeds in a select forum
