Updates:

February 3, 2012- Big update: Facets have been launched, more Admin options, optimized code. (v1.3)

Why Prosperent Product Search?

Prosperent Product Search uses Prosperent's API, which is a very advanced API that offers you access to 3000 merchants and 50 million products from all of the top online retailers. Stores like Zappos, 6pm, Best Buy, Overstock, REI, Advance Auto Parts, Kohl's, Gap, Banana Republic, Cabelas, and thousands more. If it is sold online, we probably have it in our system.

We have an ever growing community, which is always willing to answer questions and lend a helping hand, and our team here at Prosperent is also available on the forum.

Installation

First thing, head over to Prosperent (http://goo.gl/6X8OT) and click Join, its Free to do so. Create your account and once you are signed in, click the API tab up top. This page will give you the information you need to know about the API. But all you need to do here at the moment is click API Keys on the submenu and click Add New API Key. This will get you the API key you'll need so commissions can be tracked back to you. Name it whatever you'd like and you'll see that its created a key for you.

Save that key somewhere as you'll be needing it later.

Now, download the .zip file and unzip it. Inside you'll see all the files that you'll need. Import the plugin in the AdminCP. As for the other files, including the img folder, copy those to your main or root vbulletin directory.

There should be 4 files and 1 folder which contains 2 images.

Okay, with that done. Go into your AdminCP and click vBulletin Options -> vBulletin Options -> Prosperent Settings and add your API Key to the input box labeled Api_Key and save that there.

Finally, go to Styles & Templates, click Style Manager and then on your Primary Style, click Edit Templates. Open the header template and insert $includedphp where you'd like the search bar to show up.

Facets:

Your end-users are now able to narrow done their search by the use of facets. The results can be sorted by Brand and Merchant. At the moment its only one brand and one merchant, but in time I'll allow you to sort by multiple brands and merchants.

Admin Options:

Gives you more power over this add-on.

Logo_Image- Display the original sized Prosperent Logo. Size is 167px x 50px.
Logo_imageSmall- Display the smaller Prosperent Logo. Size is 100px x 30px.
Default_Sort- Sets the sort method when users first search. Blank- Relevancy, ASC- Price: Low to High, and DESC- Price: High to Low
Api_Key- Enter your Api key here so you can earn your commissions
Enable Facets- Enter TRUE (1) to enable facets, or FALSE (0) to disable them.
Api Limit- Set the API limit. Default is 10.
Pagination Limit- Set the amount of results to appear per page. Default is 15.
Addional Directory- And this one is for those who's forums have an additional directory. Now instead of altering code you are able to define the additional directory here, Don't forget the leading slash (/).

Notes:

You can change which template to put $includedphp into but if you do you must change it inside the plug-in. The Plug-in is named Search Form Input Box.

Change this part, and enter the template of choice in place of header.
$pre_register = array('header' => array('includedphp' => $includedphp));
The template name is case sensitive.

You may also have to alter a little CSS as to the exact placement of the input box and the logo.

To see examples where this add-on has been used check out the following vbulletin3 forums.

Alright, just released version 1.3. This one has a lot of goodies in it. Facets, more Admin Options, optimized code. Just all around awesomeness.

You now have a choice between two image sizes a 167 x 50 and a 100 x 30.

You can control the API limit, Pagination Limit, and whether Facets are enabled or disabled in the options.

Finally, if your forum has an additional directory, you can now put that in the Admin Options and not have to change it in the code, just remember the leading slash, ie. '/vb4'

As always, I welcome any suggestions, and if you see any bugs in this code, let me know and I will fix them ASAP.

Erm, so the point of this is to intergrate your product into vB, and I get that. But what sort of site would actually use something like this?

Erm, so the point of this is to intergrate your product into vB, and I get that. But what sort of site would actually use something like this?

There are plenty of sites out there that could utilize something like this. Actually, basically every site could use this. It's a way for people to earn a little extra. Most people already have ads on their site, this takes that a step further. It gives a user the ability to search for a product right from a forum.

Some forums are about music, movies, sports, computers, cars, you name it. And by using this search engine they can search for a product without having to open a new tab or go somewhere else. And they are supporting the forum that they use as well in doing so.

Say you want the latest video game everyone is talking about on the forum you are on; well search for it using this search engine and it pulls back the results from our database of millions of products, and you can get a great price on it.

So to answer your question, every site can use this. :)

I know about this site very well thank you and I do know what amount your affiliate link will benefit you, the most time spent developing this mod was typing it out.

My vote was based on the mod itself, it is code to add a search bar .

If I am so unfair lets see what others think.

I do think you are being unfair, you didn't even download it, so I don't think you are justified in voting for it.

No "cloaking" affiliate links isn't allowed either.

In this case I am convinced however that the link to Prosperent is not for collecting affiliate revenue but for tracking the number of visitors coming from this site. Since I don't believe any money is involved with the link I am letting it be. Should I find out otherwise it would of course be removed.
