I'm soon to have a vb4 license for my current forum to upgrade to which will leave me with a vb3.8 license to get me by on my new project until I get the cash to upgrade it to vb4. Seeing as how both sites have the potential to be fairly big and my host has a size limit on how much a database can hold (1GB), how would I go about using multiple databases for a site, or is it even possible?

When you buy a vB4 license you still have the option to download and use the latest vB3 version. But of course this doesn't answer your question.

A 1GB limit on database size does seem small. Offhand I don't think you can have multiple databases for a single vB installation, because then you would have different config files, etc.

I suggest looking around for better hosting or ask your host if there's a way to upgrade existing.

Well damn...I don't really want to switch hosts as I have had really good service with them.

Have you talked to them? Maybe they'll give you a larger limit for a small fee.

What size would you guys recommend? Eventually, if either of the sites get big enough, I plan on moving to a site with unlimited sized databases.

On my forum, I have a total of 9Gigs in database. I'm not sure how you limit it if you wanted to. If you get big, you get big. You buy more server to support you getting big. Am I missing something?
