vBSlider: What is it?
vBSlider is a professional slider mod, allowing administrators to show the latest threads and custom-defined content in a jQuery based slider.

Uses

vBSlider can be used on the Forum to promote your latest content, as well as custom content.

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available.

* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.

* Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.

General Settings

Option to display version number in widget footer
Option to not load jQuery, if it is already being called by another modification
Option to select which version of jQuery to load
Default image for CMS content items that do not have an associated image (a default DragonByte Tech image is provided) [vB4.x only]

Multiple Slider Instances

Ability to create and insert virtually unlimited sliders across your forum
All settings below are customised on a per-instance basis

CMS Options (as a Widget on CMS pages) [vB4.x only]

Option to select how many articles from the CMS you want to display
Option to select which CMS sections you want to include/exclude from the slider
Option to select how many threads from the forum you want to display
Option to select which forums you want to include/exclude from the slider
Option to select how many blog entries from the blogs you want to display
Option to select which blog categories you want to include/exclude from the slider
Option to select how many [DBTech] Gallery images you want to display
Option to select which [DBTech] Gallery instances you want to include/exclude from the slider
Option to select how many custom content items you want to display
Option to select how many characters of the content item you want to display

Forum Options (as a Widget on Forum Home, vB3 & vB4)

Option to enable or disable the widget on Forum Home
Option to select location for the widget on Forum Home (above or below forums)
All of the other options listed for the CMS [vB4.x only]

Customisation

Stylevars available for both the CMS and Forum versions, so that you can match each one to your specific design [vB4.x only]
External CSS file available so you can match the slider to your forum [vB3.x only]
Ability to define a maximum width and height for the slider (in StyleVars for vB4, in CSS for vB3)
Fully phrased to allow for customization for different languages

Option to move Copyright location from below slider to site footer
Option to change the default image for CMS content items that do not have an associated image (vB4 Only)
Option to change the default image for Forum content items that do not have an associated image

Option to use IMG tags inside the content types to allow for external images to be used inside of the slider

Option to select how long each content item displays before transitioning to the next slide
Option to pick the location inside the slider for the content
Option to pick the text alignment of the content

Custom Content Options

This gives you the ability to create your own content items to display to your users
Ability to define a title for the content
Ability to define a message for the content. Message can include HTML formatting
Ability to define a link if you want to provide additional information in a separate location
Ability to define a link to an image for the content item
Option to pick the location inside the slider for the content
Option to pick the text alignment of the content
Option to enable/disable on the CMS [vB4.x only]
Option to enable/disable on Forum Home
Option to enable/disable site wide
Option to select the target location for the link to open in
Option for 'banner-only', so if no text is in the message area, the content slider doesn't show
All of the above options are definable for each custom content item

Customisation

Ability to define the width of the content area when located on the left or right side (in StyleVars for vB4, CSS for vB3)

Sounds pretty nice, Is there a way to use the slider elsewhere rather then just the forums. For example if I want it to show up on my portal i.e vbportal or vbadvanced ?

Currently it is only for the forums for the 3.x version. I have started messing some with making it work with vBAdvanced or similar, but haven't really dug too deep into it yet.

thank you five stars this mod is only a question that you can get the copy right sider the type and place the bottom of the forum and oh yes this mod but full attention is only my opinion but I like their operation and the update is good if anyone want to pm me demo and see how it works in my forum.

The ability to move the slider is currently in the pro version only. However, there is a free mod available on our site that will allow all installed DBT products to be listed in a single location in the footer. If you install that mod, then you can get the copyright into the footer.

In a previous post, TEMPESTADE offered to link people to his site if they wanted to see it in action on a 3.8 forum. You could PM him for a link to see it in action.

As for the back-end, unfortunately the DBTech demo site is currently unavailable. Hopefully it will be back up soon, but its not something that I personally have control over.

v3.0.0 features a brand new slider script with support for multiple Instances per page. You can now drop an unlimited number of sliders per page.

Additionally, the slider now features [DBTech] DragonByte Gallery integration.

Update

Hotfix: PHP 5.4 Compatibility fixes

This does not guarantee the mod is error free on PHP 5.4, but it will take care of the reported errors. Thank you all for your reports :)

Changed Features:

A fresh copy of the jQuery library is now only downloaded if one has not been downloaded previously. Requires updating of all other affected DBTech mods to take full effect.

Hello, I've installed this and have used the auto display to place it after the navbar (v3.8.4). I have a jquery.js script in the forum root clientscript directory and I've placed this line in the headinclude <script type="text/javascript" src="clientscript/jquery.js"></script> above the other script entries. What else is required to make this visible? Thanks.

Hi Fillip, if by that you mean I can use a url link to the library, otherwise I'm not sure what you mean. Whether I use a link to the script or access the library from an outside source like Google, I still have the problem of launching the slider. It doesn't appear. I believe that by placing the code above in the headinclude pointing to the script, the slider should be visible unless I'm missing a step somewhere. Do I need to identify the script version? If so, where? There is no place for that in the options. Thanks.

Okay, I think I got it. The jquery is being accessed remotely, possibly via the product (xml) file perhaps? That being the case, it doesn't resolve the actual problem being that the slide is not appearing on my forum. I've removed the line entry in the
headinclude.

Also for those interested, in the xml product, line # 1507 has the wrong url for the easing demo, which you link to in the "Manage Instances" settings option in the ACP. At the bottom of the configuration file is a section entitled Transition Easing. That link takes you to a demo. The url in line 1507 of the product should be: <a href="http://jqueryui.com/easing/" target="_blank">...
