Geebus, where does a newbie start?

Anyone please help me by pointing me in the right direction of getting my first Vbulletin site up and running. Like good tutorials.
I get the admin panel and moderation stuff having been members of vbulletin board somewhat. But like design and well, you know, where to start?

Im making a self help community for alcoholics so since I aint drinking, I want to use that time making a chatboard with the latest vbulletin. 4.1.8
I was hoping lynda.com had training videos like for photoshop and html, dreamweaver stuff. But no luck. Is it just youtube videeos?
