Section Banners?

I've recently set up a new forum, running 4.1.8, and my old community which was running 3.8.5 had banners for each section on the main forum page.

I was wondering does anyone know how to do this...because I have no clue at all. And it looks like it will need a modification of some kind to make work at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
