vBNavTabs is a professional navtab mod, allowing administrators to add, unlimited tabs and dropdown menus with no additional queries.

vBNavtabs is perfect for any forum, both small and big alike. vbNavTabs is the ideal product to add your own tabs, dropdown items to tabs and sub-link items to tabs in the default navbar. Easy admin interface for customizing your added items.

vBulletin Versions: Compatible with vB versions 4.1.x and 4.2.x

I spent many, many hours working on this modification, trying to make everythng work, and I am set back by you saying it is a copy. Quite a bit of the code used was pulled from other DBT mods, and changed up to work for this mod.

I can say I did use some layout looks from other mods, but that's it. The coding was written out, not copied from someone elses mod.

I know, it's cool, I can understand where you are coming from, but their is only so much you can do with a modification that uses vb coding standards to inject into the navbar.

I do appreciate you taking the time to point out your feelings, and I am happy that you are not accusing me of anything.

The more this mod is developed, the menus may change, depending on what functionality is added to the product.

I did test it with a few custom themes, as long as the style coded the navbar to vb standards it should work.

Not at this time, it is something that will be looked into for a future version.

A quick product update to solve a issue.

Fixed: A issue with tabs only showing one sub-link if their was more than one added.
Fixed: A issue with dropdown tabs only showing one dropdown item if their was more than one added.

To solve the issue:

Please download v1.0.2 and upload the files to your server, and re import the xml.

Then you need to go to the Manage Dropdowns and the Manage Sub-links pages and just click on Save changes and everything should show up as intended. (if you have any added)

I already have the one you have on front page installed. Everything works perfect except it does not drop down a second time. I am using the regular vb theme as well.

^ that is my forums you can see there where it does not drop down. I will post a couple of pictures in a minute or so of my current admin cp with the settings set

EDIT: um ...it must not save to the cache or whatever correctly.Because now it won't let me set the dropdowns I made to that tab ( it doesn't even show the tab...) It shows the tab on the home page but doesn't allow me to make a dropdown for that tab.

lol I am going to disable it for now until we can get the fixed I think there is another nav mod somewhere on here that is compatible.

Fixed: A issue that I discovered, with Apache Error Logs showing errors if tabs had a image and you visited the page in the acp "Manage Tabs". (Pro) Possibly Lite to, as the code was in the files also.

The errors look something like this:

Those can all be deleted, the errors caused no harm, just was some code I had tested out and forgot to remove, so when you viewed the page "Manage Tabs" in the acp it was looking for the images.

I want to show some categories build with the CMS as tabs and some subcategories of it as sublinks.

The tab is shown, but it will not highlight when clicked and no sublinks are shown.

So i guess i did a mistake in managing the tabs, especialy the "Tab Mode" seems to be a problem.
The URL of one of the categories is "content.php?r=34-magazin", what do i have to fill in the field "THIS_SCRIPT value"?

I started to try it a different way with dropdown-tabs. This works allright, not the way i hoped to archive, but it?s working. :)
But there is a tiny little question regarding the dropdowns. They are shown with a min-width of 400 pixel wich is far to wide. I?m searching and searching but could not find the css, template or stylevariable to change this to 0. Where can i edit the min-width?

The Pro version has a stylevar setting that you can control the width. Other than that it is hard coded in vbulletin, and is standard size output from vbulletin.

1 Question... Is there anyway to change the height of the drop down menus as you can the width ?

My dropdown menu is 100px wide but there is like a 3 or 4 px gap around each item so the height of the whole dropdown is very long.

The drop down for menus like quick links and forum actions is much more compact looking and thats what i want ...

Any ideas ?

Could you take some screenshots of the differences between the navtabs dropdowns and the quicklinks dropdowns. Those two are the same class and should be the same. On my live site, dev site and on the DBT site they look correct, so maybe it is a style issue.

I left the permission allowed/not allowed empty, this is correct right? If you want everyone to see the menu. This all happened when I set another tab with permissions. As shown below:

I don't think the system is seeing the permissions correctly, and affects the ones that don't have any permissions.

I haven't tried yet, but I forgot to add the tabs was showing correctly for me yesterday (before the post I made above) and then the permissions got screwed up. After I edited one of the tabs in the files tab which has no permissions at all, it all worked fine again..

However, once I moved the tab "beta testers" which has specific permissions from 2 to 3 (further to the right) it all got screwy again.

I think the permissions of a tab that has permissions affects the ones that has no permissions at all.

I can confirm this. And one interesting thing - after importing product there are 3 predefined tabs (link to DragonByte, Groups and Albums), which works fine = when I click on them the tab is higlighted. But it is not working with new tabs (= with tabs that I create) regardless of their settings (I even tried copy everything from these which were predefined - no chance, don't work).

Perhaps it will help you in tweaking of this issue, DragonByte, becouse this mod is great :-)

BTW: I am just installed it today on vBulletin 4.1.10.

Ok I see it happening now, I will look into why it is doing that.
In the mean time if you change the display order of the droptab, or change usergroup perms, and only one dropdown item shows up, go back to the Manage Dropdowns page in the acp and click on save changes, and they will all show up again.

I don't think that is possible, due to the fact that that the tab "admin" not having a this script value. The best option would be to make a dropdown tab called admin and then add the rest as dropdowns for that tab.

Hello, first off let me say that this mod does look very good and would be great for a site that I am doing. Being new to the vB environment I have a question about this before purchasing if the owner agrees. I was looking at the links from your website and like the look and feel of the setup they are using here : http://www.personalitynation.com/ and one of the others was similar but had pictures inside of it. My question is would that be something that is doable right out of the box so to speak with this mod or did they also require any other mods or customized work to get it to look something similar to that? I imagine the free version here is just your basic dropdowns that vB does not supply?

Yes the pro version does allow you to add icons to the tabs, dropdown items and the sublinks created with this mod. As far as the link you posted, the navbar is not moveable to the top of the header it is in the default location.

Thanks Chris, the other thing I just noticed when I downloaded the lite version just to try on my test site is the instructions state to upload all the files from the "upload" folder to the forums directory. Just so I am clear on this we take just the files themselves or the folders that they are already in inside of the "upload" folder, because there is already an admincp folder in the directory. Sorry if that sounds dumb but I just want to be clear.

The only issue I am having now is that the tab that I made with vBNavTabs is not getting highlighted when the tab is clicked on like the other tabs. However, another page (thread) I want to link to has the same value.

I am having a little problem with getting the tabs to highlight when they go to the page they are linked to. I created 2 pages off of the CMS which both use the same THIS_SCRIPT (vbcms) value, so I just used the url parameter tab mode (with full url) and left the this_script field blank. Whenever I go to these pages it still highlights the CMS page. Is there something I missed? I am running vb4.1.11. Thanks for your help.

But it does work on the original skins you have installed? If so try flushing any caching systems you may have installed on your site.

No you can not add navlinks to the default tabs with the mod. You can however, remove the default tabs with the mod (PRO) then add the tabs back using tthe mod and then add navlinks to that tab. By navlinks I assume you mean the links in the sub-navbar.

Only way I can think of is to add them into the templates directly.

By finding the place you want them displayed and adding this:

It's possible but you would have to remove the default Home Tab, then make a Dropdown Tab with the mod, and add items to that tab.

Or you could leave the Home Tab intact and do as described.

Given that this mod (or the pro version of it, at the very least) evidently can talk to the other DBT mods somehow...would it be possible for this mod to let us specify the position of the tabs added by other DBT mods (or maybe even edit those tabs and their menus) at all? I've got a situation where the tab for the arcade is stubbornly staying to the far left next to the forum tab, whereas I'd prefer it on the far right, and I can't figure out how to change that.

Not at this time, but you can disable the default tab that came with the arcade and make the tab with the mod, then you will have full control over it's location.

To turn off the arcade tab go to DragonByte Tech: vBArcade - General Options and set Enable Navbar Tab to no.

I would contact your host and tell them about the error, it seems like you are running xcache and it is not set high enough. Maybe once that is sorted the width will be solved, as it gets all the info for the tabs and menus from the datastore.

If you are only making one other dropdown tab with this mod, I suppose you could open the file, dbtech/vbnavtabs/includes/functions.php and find the following line:

So I dowloaded a few of your mods and the first one I tried was the tabs program. I downloaded it and followed the directions as I understand them but can't install it. When I try to import it most times it says there is no install file or something.

Does it matter where in the forums root directory the upload folder goes?

Make sure your user is set to super administrator in config.php There should be a menu in the left side of the ACP called, DBTech -vBNavTabs 4.2

It is a small process but not to difficult.

1) Create a tab.
2) Create a menu for the tab.
3) Edit the tab and the last setting, "Select The Menu To Act As The Dropdown." select the menu you just created, click on save.
4) Add links to the menu you created, these are what will show up as the dropdown items in the tab.

That is not possible, and I think it would be rather difficult to do as it would require alot of editing and different types of permissions.

The latest release is breaking my entire forum style. Not sure why. As soon as I install the .xml file and have it enabled my style is just messed up. I disable the mod or remove it and it resets and looks just fine. Any idea?

Ah I currently have my site turned off as I am redoing basically everything. I did however just try a past style I had on and it did the same thing; basically breaking the style making it look really messy. I didn't have this problem with the previous versions, kinda strange.

I did test this however also on the regular vbulletin style and seemed just fine. So it is just the custom styles. I'm curious if anyone else is having this?

You were kind enough to help me last April (as depicted above), but I have since upgraded to from VB 4.1.11 to VB 4.1.20 ... and the Activity Stream and Navigation Manager ransacked all of my custom tabs. Fortunately, I have fixed all of them all now--except for my subnavigation links associated with my Home/CMS Tab.

I tried to re-follow this advice you gave me several months ago, of putting the above code into my vbcms_navbar_link, but it doesn't seem to be working with this iteration of VB.

Any ideas on how to add the following sub-navigation links to my Home Tab that will globally affect all of my CMS in VB 4.1.20?:

Yes, but the Navigation Manager won't let me do it. I have to go into each CMS document and add sub-nav links, but those links are pre-set to be "categories" of CMS documents, I cannot custom add my payments.php page.

Was hoping you might know a template workaround like the other one ...

The "Welcome" subnavigation link is globally displayed on all content.php documents, so I figure there has to be a corresponding template to which a few other subnav links could be added for global display also, like last time.

Ahh ok then that would have to be done in the plugin. ACP / Plugins & Products / Plugin Manager then scroll down to Product : vBulletin Blog and find the plugin Navbar: Eval Blog Link Template and Validate Styleid click on that then search for:

$template_hook['navtab_middle']

Then change middle to start or end and click on save

I've had issues with modifications in the past that add custom stylevars. The last mod that I installed that added custom stylevars ended up overwriting everything, giving me a completely blank stylevar list: http://gyazo.com/5a1122bd80167e9f33c7b104118bc389?1349593243

^The above is what happened to me, and I was told by the makers of that mod that it was a bug with vB itself. I've since restored my stylevars, but will a similar issue occur with this mod?

I have not seen this happen on any sites as of yet. With this mod or any of our other mods, and that entails thousands of installs. But if you want to be safe try it out on a test site that is a copy of your live site. I would be interested to know which mod that was that caused that

Then you would have to disable them in the Navigation Manager, and make them as tabs instead of sublinks.

I did this but it did not change the color for some reason. I was able to change the font size so its better, but using a different color would help. http://www.tns-gaming.com is our site and the Features dropdown is where I am having trouble.

I know I did this right because it is showing up on other things that are not related to NavTabs

That is the only thing I can think of, unless the custom style is using something different, you could do a search in templates for this:

.navtabs li.selected .popupbody liOnce you see which templates have that, open them up and then click on find and look for some code that looks like this:

color: {vb:stylevar navbar_popupmenu_link_color};
background: {vb:stylevar navbar_popupmenu_link_background};

}Where it says, color: {vb:stylevar navbar_popupmenu_link_color}; that is the stylevar it is using.

I've looked at that and it appeared fine, when I look at the raw code and inspected the element using chrome I am seeing this:

The CSS element is just element.style. It appears its being generated in the code instead of the CSS or a StyleVar. Have no clue why this is that way. Any ideas?

Maybe the style coder did not add the code in right, try adding this to your additional.css template in that style:

.popupbody li a,
.popupbody li label {
color: {vb:stylevar popupmenu_link_color};
}

And let me know if it works or not, if it don't you can remove that code from the template so it don't cause issues down the road.

That didn't work, but I went into the code more and I checked where it was getting all the information. In the includes/functions.php it had the .navbar_selected_popup_body_a_Color stylevar being used. I added that into my additional.css and it didn't work, so I decided to experiement and just changed the code there to a color and it worked.

I hate to do that and I know when you push an update I'll probably have to redo it, but at least I got the result I was looking for. I have no clue why none of the style vars were working.

In further looking, I've discovered I don't have a navbar_selected_popup_body_a_Color stylevar. How can I add one to my style so I don't have to mod your code?

Used this mod with some another skins (TF_Ideal) and skin is fixed ..when i use this tabs mod skin is totaly destroyed ( fixed become fluid, font sizes, colors and much more) ...when i disabled this mod..skin works fine ... no problems

Use last version - 4.2.0 PL3 and skin i purchased from themeforest site. Skin is for vb 4.2

I downloaded this, and it got rid of the sub menus in the Forum Tab. Couldn't work out how to get this back.
