Hello all,

I have a quick question, is there any chat room that

a) works with 4.1.8

and

b) is not on the homepage, i want it to be a new tab next to the "What's New" tab or in a similar place.

any help would be appreciated thanks all!

Here are a couple of Chat options for you to look into.

I've yet to implement Chat in my membership site...I'd appreciate hearing about what you end up doing for your site.

I wonder how Chat would change the dynamics of a membership site.
If Chat communication replaces PMs then no problem.
If members interacted via Chat in lieu of forum threads and CMS comments, the site could suffer from decreased public communication.

As the administrator, I wonder if I'd get bombarded by chat whenever I'm on the site?

Anyways, I hope one of these options helps.

I use envolve and have been very happy with its performance. It doesn't use any of your resources as it resides on their server. There's a little bar that sits on the bottom of the screen so it doesn't take up much screen space.

You can turn it on and off from the admin panel which is convenient if your community doesn't need chat all the time.

I think a chat room destroys the point of a forum. besides, you will need an extremely popular forum to draw members in daily. you want members to post on the forum, not be lazy and beg for help or troll a chat room... if anything grow your forum and add it into as a perk for VIP or members with X amount of posts. The curiousity of it all may draw interest and activity.
