I'd been having really odd High server loads during times when there are the least people on (7-9AM EST). The server load would get so high that the server just freezes and needs to be restarted. The odd thing is during times when there are a large amount of users on, the server is usually fine for the most part.

The server load hit 200+ and MySQL restarted. This is at 7-9am and the number of users on at this time is usually around 700-1000

9-10pm normal load we usually get
134745

This has been a common occurrence, every week there will be at least one or two days where this will happen. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

That's high.

Hmmm Do you have any cron jobs scheduled for that timeframe (Any background tasks running) ? Are other sites on that server (is it shared)?

Just a couple things to look at.

Turn on debug mode and take a look at the queries of every page. This will expose which addons and vb processes are causing issues.

You may want to install vb Bad Behavior to get rid of malicious bots and downloaders.

Thanks you guys, gonna try these recommendations, will get back with updates!

So I checked cron jobs schedule and there is nothing that runs during 7-9am.

My friend has another low traffic site that is running off this dedicated server I will ask him to disable it to see if that changes anything

I already have glowhost spam-o-matic installed, i think vb bad behavior does the same thing?

Debug mode was turned on and every page seems to be fine (an average of 12 queries) except for one. Our frontpage CMS is using 62 queries and there are some templates that are in bold red on the list....Anyone know what that means?
