All outgoing newsletters are having a copyright link in the footer. You're not allowing to remove this line (The PRO version is without this copyright line).5.- Important Notes
You need to set a dedicated email address for bounce emails (from email) which you'll never access with any mail client. Doing it, you'll download the emails, and thus, they'll never preceed from the system.
Most cheap GoDaddy hosting plans are not having the Mail() function enabled. If this you, sorry but this mod will not works in your site.Chris

For formating the template not. I didn't used a template as I wanted to keep this mod compatible with vB3.x. But you can change the colors by modifying the file forummembers/css/newsletter.css. You can also hide some block if you don't like them, by setting 0 in the General settings

Are you sure that cronjobs have run? Please goto:
Scheduled Tasks-> Schedule Task Manager
and run manually:
1.- Newsletter (this prepares the emails)

As long as you're not getting any error, you need to wait to finish the job. Also if you've lots of members you must change the time that the cronjob will run. eg if it's every 15 minutes to change it every 30 min or so.

A new, bug fix, release is available for download. It fixes 2 errors found in cronjobs file. To upgrade upload the files inside the folder upload/includes/cron to your forum/includes/cron. Also import the product-newsletter.xml just to update the version number (there are no changes in this file).

I've a warning in my post. Be sure that your hosting provider has enable the Mail() function. For example GoDaddy.com does not have it active and does not activate it even if you ask for it.

I wish the day to has 48h. It's the only way to have all done. My last day off, was on September 2004. 7 years I'm working at least 14h every day, including weekeds and holidays. Is not that I don't want to help. Is that I've so many things to do.
In any case I'll try to post an update today. The errors are clear. eg there is referrence to a function which exists only in the pro version, and I need to remove it.

Yes, you need to check with your Hosting provider how many emails you can send per hour. Then you need to goto Newsletter's settings. By default it send 150 emails per cronjob. So if you have setup the "Send Mails" cron to run every 30 min, then 300 emails will be send out per hour.

It was so frustating, to spend around 3 hours checking every single line of code, and trying to understand what in hell is that bug which was making the addon to not work but on the same time to not show any error. Finally it was (as usally is such issues) a childish issue. The code was correct to prepare the newsletter, to add receipments etc, and the only missing was the command to "Send Email" ... $mail->Send(); ... Idiot me...

Have you setup new schedule. The free version does not supports reccuring mailings (eg every Sunday). As for your comment, except if you changed something, any script works or not works. Is impossible to work once and then stops.

If you want to send general mailings (don't with content from the Forums), then I've another product, the "Marketer", which is using mailinglists and HTML editor, so you can design the emails as you want. Don't look for it here. There is no Free version of this addon.

The mod can send it. The problem is your hosting provider and not the mod. It depends on how many emails you provider permits you to send per hour. The mod has a setting to set how many emails to send per cronjob. So if your provider allows you to send 1,000 emails per hour, and you've setup the cronjob for sending emails to run every 30 minutes, then you must set 500 in the settings.
But even if you don't have restrictions from your hosting provider, I believe that is not good to send more than 2,000 emails per hour.

Sorry No. Advertisments is on the PRO version only. The logic is simple. Advertisments (as you honestly admit), means money for you. So, why not money for me?:) That's why I added this feature only in the PRO version.

One quick question if I let it search all forums for the popular threads it will pull one out of a forum I have set up as the staff forum which is only viewable by moderators, supermoderators and Administrators. Any quick fix to this. Also a little help to display my forums logo in the header. You can see the attempt I made and if you click on the blue img link you will display the picture.

To be honest I'm always waiting around 2 weeks before upgrading to a new version, as 99% should be something like 4.1.9 PL1 :erm:

But especially this addon, does not uses any vb functions, expect usergroups, that's why it works unmodified with vB3.x too. So, 99,99% should be compatible.

There is a notice about this in my main post. The free version is using the Mail() function to send newsletters. Some hosting providers (like GoDaddy), have disabled this function.

ChrisIt was never that Chris I finally asked Hostmonster for the correct e-mail settings and got it to work. Your link to the Pro version doesn't work anymore. As soon as you fix that I am ready to buy. One last question is my Issue count is up to 8 now. How can I role it back to Issue number one. I assume testing it raised the number up to 8.

I set it all up and the test email worked fine, when I scheduled a full email blast it came back with a database error.

I shortened it cause it quoted the whole message:

Why you don't believe it? Because it's free? That means nothigs.
admincp-> Newsletter Options-> General Settings-> Head Message
(If you like, add a personal message to appear at the top of the newsletter.)

Sorry to ask so many questions;
But I just created my first newsletter, and scheduled the send:
On the schedule newletter button it said "To Send: 2240" "Sent 0"

So I ran the crons, and now on the scheduled newsletter there is nothing showing as anything schedule. But I never got the newsletter, and when I check the cron log for Newsletter bounce and Newsletter. They both come up with no matches found. So I don't think they actually did anything.

Any ideas to what I'm doing wrong?

First and most important. Are your hosting provider allows use of Mail() function? eg GoDaddy does not allows it. The free version sends messages only with the use of Mail(), while the Pro supports sendmail() and SMTP.

Second. How it works. Lets say that you've schedule to send it at: 01:00 on March 04. At that time the cronjob will build the newsletter with the current forum content and store it in database. After finishing it, another cron will start sending messages in packages of xxx messages per cycle according to your settings.
This is the way that it works, and works for sure.

I was able to get it to work this time, not sure why it didn't the first time.

Had a couple feature requests for you to consider:
The first, is for the popular threads. If there was a way to select a date span would be great. Right now, it's must be going by just the post count and it's finding threads from 7 years ago. If we could have a date span, we could set it to display popular threads from the last month or since the last newsletter went out.

Another feature that would be nice is the ability change the buckets around. For example, be able to have the latest threads bucket display first, and then the popular thread bucket.

A very simple example. Please note that if you want to add images you must write the full URL to the photo.

You must first click "Submit URL". Enter the URL where you'll install the mod and save. After it you'll see the download linkI'll appreciate if you post in my forums any problem that maybe you have, as this thread is for the free version.

When scheduling a newsletter there is a message about being available to visitors, and a note about if marked yes it will be a dropdown option in the archives?

I wasn't sure, where is this archive? How would visitors, or other members go back and read old newsletters?

In my country, it's illegal to SPAM my members. Is there an option to subscrie to the newsletter? Or only unsubscribe?

Does the mod add something to my register page, so that people can check if they want my newsletter or not?

And what about the users that are already registered? Do they automatically recieve the newsletter until they unsubscribe?

For those that don't bother to read the entire thread the ONLY way it seems to unsubscribe is via this:
The members can unsubscribe turning off "Receive emails from Admins".

How abouts making a standalone option to unsubscribe purely from the mailing list else this might be somewhat annoying to both users and administrators on the site. As this really would be a lot better, as some sites may not allow users to turn off that option yet that would also mean users wouldn't stop getting the email even if they didn't want it anymore thus causing people to get annoyed and maybe leave.

Also is it possible to re-arrange the layout of the email it sends? EG: Put Latest Threads at top, or something?

A simple solution I came up with for my weekly newsletter was I created an additional user group called weekly newsletter. I subscribed all my members to it as an additional user group. I added this link http://www.guesswho.com/forum/profile.php?do=editusergroups to the bottom of the newsletter. When they click it, it takes them to their permission groups so they can leave the group.
When I schedule a newsletter I just pull from the weekly newsletter group only each time.

I run the pro version of this mod and there is no way of unsubscribing without un-ticking email from admin either. Something I don't like about it!
This is Mary's old mod and it use to have an unsubscribe feature but it was taken out.

Now I'm going to answer your question, NO I do not know where you can find the pro version these days. The authors site has been closed for all I know. :(
