1.- What's this?

This AddOn replaces the file memberlist.php and shows this list in a better interface and adds more features in the listing (mostly in the PRO version). Please note, that as I said before, there is a replacement of the original memberlist.php, so in case that you want to revert back, you must re-upload this file from your vB distribution. Also after any vB upgrade you need to re-upload my memberlist.php (just re-upload, no re-importing the xml file).

Pitty that you'll not use it:erm: Well I think that memberlist is the only part of vBulletin that never has been retouched. All other sections appear so nicelly except this.

Looks very nice.

My only comment would be, it needs an option to simplify it so that (a) it just goes straight to the actual member list and (b) it can show all members in one view, not split by usergroup. A lot of sites like mine have usergroup names kept private, they are never exposed in the public UI and members generally don't know they exist.

I can probably hack it to be like that myself but I think it'd be a useful option to have.

There is an option to admincp to specify which usergroup(s) you want to show. So its up to you to not include your special usergroups.

Thanks...is there an option to just show all off them though? That's really what I'd need to do.
Aside from admin/mod, we use usergroups to restrict permissions to certain types of member and this is done entirely back-end, there's no public visibility of the fact the groups exist, nor who is in them.

Though as I say (without seeing the code) I reckon I can fairly easily hack this in.

Another excellent mod from you Chris.

Your link to the PRO version gives an error...

When I look at my memberlist the "username" is white and when hovering over it it turns black.
Where can I change the color of the username text (white) to another color as the white one is not visible?

I dont see the search function?

Usergroup Settings.

Uninstalled it just now, very buggy. The default avatar (noavatar.gif) path is broken, the alphabetic username search doesn't work and the pagination doesn't work either - it redirects you to forumhome. Also the css for my header (logo/login toplinks) and navbar is broken when viewing the memberlist.php

Agreed, I have uninstalled for now.

Main issues are as above - Alphabetic bar is not working and the same for the pagenav - both just lead to white pages.

Very promising though. I had it looking pretty decent, but only the first page would display.

Anything has bugs. What makes the difference is the time to fix them. In less than 45min, I just released a fix for:

1.- Wrong avatar path
2.- Pagination wrong link
3.- Sorry I was unable to reproduce your report for wrong Letter search. For me works.
4.- As for your special style, as I seen you're designer. Just include the css to the head section of forummembers_index template and everything should be ok.

Hello Mark,

Please don't get me wrong, there is no intention to underestimate your experiance to modify the file, but its easier for me to make the changes than to write instructions on how to do it. Actually there were lots of changes.

Please upload the attached file. Also import the xml file to remove the usergroup block from the template.

Any plans for Maria's old newsletter Chris ?

I like the idea of this one, sadly it never worked or got support

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=269620

It pulls all the info from VB into the newsletter - which saves a lot of time putting a newsletter together

Thanks Chris, with some tweaking I think I have this how I'd like it now...

http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/memberlist.php

Obviously the templates are tweaked somewhat, mine always are. :)

Only thing I can't get working is the online status of each user. Nothing seems to show, even when I used the default template.

Yes, you're right. The Top poster are counting only from the register usergroup for a simple reason. Always the usergroups Administrators and Moderators are those which are having the most posts, so it has no sense to show as Top posters these usergroups.
In any case I'm planing to add a feature to select which usergroups to search for counting the Top posters.

I have now completed my work, using this to turn my memberlist into a sexy beast!
http://www.bowlandcentral.com/forum/memberlist.php

My only small concern is that this mod is very heavy on queries. I have 32 members per page and it's 138 queries.
Other than that it's great.

When I'll have some free time I'll change the way that queries work. This in no way means that the queries that Mary used are wrong. I'm just avoiding to use JOIN in queries, a command that can make a single query to be 5 or more. I've my own technique on this.

Wouldn't really be practical, my site's styles are already heavily customised.
:eek:
You made the one shown in the link with THIS mod or the PRO version?
This is with the Lite version, using the alternative file Chris provided for me a little higher up (this removes the "landing" page and allows you to go straight to the full memberlist without a usergroup selector bar).

Then it's mainly some template edits to get the look and feel I wanted. I also added some code to the file to do such things as pulling my custom user fields through that power the username foreground and background colours and also the vBStatus text, altering the format of the date, adding times, and a few fairly minor tweaks.

Redesigned the advanced search box to match the normal vB4 dropdown menus, and created a dropdown pre-populated with common filters (this replicates the ability to click the column headers to change the sort order that was present on the old memberlist).

All in all I am pretty pleased with the result, the memberlist is a much neglected area of vB.

Once Chris sorts the queries out this will be very good, at the moment a *really* busy site would get hit with the queries this creates.

at the moment a *really* busy site would get hit with the queries this creates.

Indeed. I have a small site and had to uninstall this mod back when Mary had it because of the load.

Query fix will be welcome as the default vb member-list is a hideous monstrosity and has no place in a custom style.

That would be very nice. I installed the 3.8 version on my big board and it repeatedly crashed my site due to the slow queries and the massive number of queries. It was a very problematic addon performance wise.

The functionality is very nice, so I was disappointed that I could not use it.

Programming is a very strange job. You can do the same thing in several ways and all of them to be correct, but at the same time to have their bad points. Let me explain:

1.- About Rating. The current way of use (and most used among programmers) is to store ratings in a seperate file, saving there the userid, the raterid and the rating. That's good. But when it comes to show the rating you must add one more query to check that table. Especially in this case the query is more heavy as it not looks for a single records, but for all records with userid=xxx and then calculate the average. Imagine that this way the queries must be execute even for users who have none rating. My way is different. I'll add in user table 3 more fields: Votes, Rating, Voters. When someone posts a rating it will calculate at THAT time the average rating. What you'll solve with this way. No extra query at all. Just print the rating value on the screen.

2.- Another point that I don't agree with the canonical programming has to do with showing "Rate him" instead of the rating (depending if you have rate him or not, or if you have permissions to rate or not), or a gray icon (eg contact) instead of the normal icon depending or your permissions to contact. Why? Let's say that I'm visiting your memberlist, just to see your members and nothing more. The system will perform a dozen of queries without any special reason. So my approach is: Show the rating, and ONLY if the visitor wants to rate the user, ONLY THEN perform the query to check if he has rated before or not, or if he has right to rate etc etc.

You must set which usergroups to show. Many sites are using private usergroups which they don't like to show them in public. So visit your admincp and you'll find an option "Usergroups" in Memberlist plugin. You can select multiple usergroups by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on them.

If you are like me and have custom usergroups and your new members are not displaying in the "just joined us" section you will need to edit the usergroupid in the memberslist.php

Find
// Just Joined us
if ($vbulletin->options["forummembers_newest"] == '1') {
$newusers_get = $db->query_read("
SELECT userid, username, usertitle
FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."user
WHERE usergroupid=xx OR FIND_IN_SET(xx, membergroupids)
ORDER BY joindate DESC
LIMIT $limit");
and edit the usergroupid (xx) in red to represent your custom usergroup.

Installed with thanks ... :)

However, I'm confused ... :confused:

It shows our Top Overall Poster as a member with 1,400 posts ..

Yet, there's at least 8 members with higher post counts (one is at 5,000 posts) and they're not even listed?

PaulM's "Top Posters" mod shows the correct information and post counts.....

Am I missing something?

Thanks for any feedback ... :)

The only that you're missing is that I found more reable to not include Admins/Moderators in top posters as they (by position) have always the highers posts. So, I'm showing there Top posters from usergroup 2 (registered members).

Is there somewhere in the plugins or code where I could add an "if usergroup = " type statement that would force it to include a specific set of usergroups for its calculations?

You need to edit memberlist.php. An example for Top posters last week (lines 219-240) is showing below:

// Week's Top Posters
// Put the usergroupids that you want to include
$include_groups = array(2,6,8);
if ($vbulletin->options["forummembers_week"] == '1') {
$timelimit = time() - 7 * 24 * 60 * 60;
$mostactiveweek_get = $db->query_read("
SELECT COUNT(post.dateline) AS postcount, post.userid,
user.userid, user.username, user.lastpostid, user.posts, user.usergroupid
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "post AS post
JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user AS user ON (post.userid = user.userid)
WHERE user.posts != '0' AND user.usergroupid IN($include_groups) AND post.dateline>'".$timelimit."'
GROUP BY post.userid
ORDER BY postcount DESC
LIMIT $limit
");
$users = array();
while($user = $db->fetch_array($mostactiveweek_get))
{
$users[] = $user;
$totalposts = $db->query_first("SELECT COUNT(postid) AS postcount FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."post WHERE dateline>'".$timelimit."'");
$mostactiveusersweek = printUsers($users, $vbulletin->options['forummembers_week_text'], 2, $totalposts['postcount']);
unset($users);
}
}

Hope that it helps.

Hello,

A new update (ver.1.2.0) is available for download. In this version there is an extra setting where you can set which usergroup(s) to include in the TOP's blocks. The earlier version was counting posts only from Registered Members (usergroupid=2).

To upgrade upload all the files and import product-forummembers.xml selecting to overwrite.

Mods works fine, if you select from admincp which usergroups to show on the top. Mod can be disable or uninstall, just keeep in mind that you need to upload the original (vB) memberlist.php.

Thank you for your supporting words. Have told many times that unfortunatelly my knowledge in design is average or even lower. I visited your site and I seen the cyan border around the blocks. Its my mistake as I've used hand coded color.

I think that I need to find a designer for correcting my mods. I don't even like to see such bad color combinations.

Edited: I also found some phrases missing (eg Join at). I think that I need to give a look on it.

Mod does not work fine....

First of all, I'll appreciate if don't use bold letters. I can read normal fonts fine.
Second. This mod works with ALL versions of 4x. Has released by Mary juts 10 days of the first release of 4.0.0. So, it's not a version problem.

Check if the usergroups that you've selected have been saved. As for disabling. It depends on what you want to see. If you just disable it WITHOUT UPLOADING the original vB memberlist.php for sure you'll see it again because memberlist.php is a file that must exist in you directory. If you've uploaded the original vB file and still you're seeing the screens of my mod, just clear your browser's cache.

As for the styling issues. Is it compatible with vB Default style? If yes, and you want it to appear ok with your custom template, then contact your designer or company from where you bought it.

Thank you
Chris
