I am unsure if this is the proper forum first of all; my sincere apologies if it's not the appropriate location.
I had a coder do some work on my site; said coder has been missing in action for over a month; he made some modifications that I cannot figure out how to undo, I would like to know if it's possible to reinstall the VB software and point it to my database so as not to loose any users or posts?
Thanks for the help, and/or pointing me in the right direction.

What were the modifications the coder made? Perhaps we can guide you through on how to uninstall the modifications, or undo the edits, etc. versus trying to reinstall vBulletin.
First step I would start at though would be to reupload all of your default vBulletin files, if the coder has modified any of those.
Are you receiving any errors anywhere due to the modifications made?

I am receiving errors while trying to upgrade the vb 4.0.7 to the latest patch,
There is also a problem with custom bb code that is installed, edited style templates, installed flash video player.
I have removed all of the Plugins & Products, removed their supporting files from the server via ftp if they had any.
The coder was externally skilled by what he could make happen with floating windows, and style changes, I just fear it will be much more easy to install a fresh copy of VB if it's possible to point it at my old database so I would not have the loss of users or post data.

Moderator can you please close and/or delete this thread; I have moved it to the main vb.com forum.
Thanks so much for your help.

I had to do something very similiar to this on my test rig quite recently. Before you do anything I'd advise you to backup the database using mysqldumper. it's really straightforward to use, just follow the instructions in the manual! Shut down your board and make the backup then you can delete the install (retaining your config.php) and re-install the VB software to the same version that you have on there now. It should all work perfectly fine!
