<a href="http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19390&highlight=Minimum%20Posts%20to%20view%20Forum." target="_blank">http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthrea...0view%20Forum.</a>

I have tried to install it twice and I get an error saying there is an error on forumdisplay.php line 57.

Can somebody please tell me how to get this hack installed on 2.0.3

Thanks in advance.

What does line 57 say?

Yes it works with 2.0.3...... 2.0.3 is no structurally different than 2.0.1 or even 2.0.0...

ok I got it so it didn't give an error, but after I get it done, I don't see anything new in the admin Control Panel to change to set the required post count?

I have installed and uninstalled this hack 4 times and I still can't see anything in the admin CP.

Please help. :(

Admin Control Panel -> Forums -> Modify -> select the forum you want - >

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the resulting form and at the bottom there should be four new options where you can change the information to your needs. This has to be done on a forum by forum basis.

If you do not see these four options then you didn't install the hack properly and I suggest you go through the readme file to change the parts you missed. None of the code changes are optional.

Fixed.

Somebody really needs to go through this hack again and pull all the peices together. Like what one person said, I too had to grab parts here and there to get it to work.

The readme isn't the same as the code in the post.

Might want to go through and get them the same. :D

Thanks!

I'll just pull support for it and not make it available anymore.

uh... :( I guess if you feel that way. I got it working so if somebody would just compile a full list of instructions it would be really nice. I think that's why soo many people need support for it, because all the info is there, but it's all jumbled. :(

But it's up to you.

I can see why people who create hacks get frustrated. It seems that they take the time and effort to make something and someone always wants more.

Gutspiller, you got it to work.. Why don't you write up the instructions that got it to work for you?

Gutspliller,

With all due respect, Wayne and many of us are extremely busy as well. Yet somehow he finds a way to spend his free time helping others in these forums.

I don't know if you realize this, but Wayne, myself and the other Moderators donate our time here. We are not compensated by Jelsoft in any way. Heck, the next copy of vB I buy, I'll be paying the same price as you and everyone else.

So I suggest you show a bit more respect for the hard and unselfish support that Wayne gives in these forums. And if you can find a way to do it, it would be very nice if you would give something back as well.

Just a thouht! :)

You know, that statement bothers me a little bit. Your too busy to create something that is useful to others, but you expect everyone else to drop their stuff to support you.. Kind of a bad attitude, don't you think?

You know we are all hard at work. I put in time here, provide paid support through the ticket system, build and support the SitePoint Forums. These are both on recurring contracts. Right there is 60 hours a week.

I am also building my own business and busy getting customers so that it can be a viable enterprise. Right now I have two sites that I am building as well. One based on vBulletin which is a donation to a social group I am a member of and the other is an ecommerce store.

The code in the read me is copied directly out of my copy of vBulletin running at SitePoint forums and is operational there. It is the most up to date version of the code as far as I am aware. I haven't changed anything in six months.

:o I didn't know you guys didn't get paid. Well that really sucks. :(

Well if I knew php I would improvise and what you started. I may just find the time to redo this hack.

FYI though.

1. You can gain access to the post count required forum by running a search in that forum for a common word.

2. You can view the whos online, and if anybody is posting in a forum that requires a post count you can simply click on their location.

3. You can visit peoples profiles and if they last posted in a post count required forum you can get to it there.

Once you have access to one thread in the forum, you can simply click prev or next thread to make your way through the forum.

4. If you set a post count, a lot of people just spam the board until they reach that post count.

A better way would be to also incorporate a day limit like there is on personal avatars/titles.

Also, if it just prevents you from seeing the forum, once people have the url of a specific thread inside the forum, they can simply email their friends the url of that one thread and your entire forum with the required post count is compremised.

All this could be avoided if the post count check was added to check everytime a THREAD was accessed in the forum, instead of just entire into the FORUM itself.

Just a few ideas/tips on anybody wanting to break into a post count required forum.

It only blocks out the stupid posters. (No offense.)

I just think this hack could have soo much more to it. If I knew php I would definantly work on this hack to improve it but I don't know php, nor do I really wish to learn it. :(

I just wish somebody THAT DOES know php might take a look at this hack and ask themselves how they can improvise on it as best as possible.

:(
