If you're on a shared server, "My SQL Server has gone away" is a very common error, especially since the latest PHP upgrades. I just ignore mine; vb apparently just keeps trying until it works so it doesn't matter.

Of course, if you're actually having some problems then you can't ignore it. But you should describe the problems, not the error.
