A nice set of simple, light styles from U.S. Military Life (http://www.usmilitarylife.com) :D

Compatible with: vBulletin 4.2.0 + Suite :up:

(The background images resize to your screen resolution :up:)

For the most part, these styles use a lot of vBulletin's default images, so if you have missing images in these styles......well, you're missing your default images :eek:

I've included each .xml individually if you want to install each style separately, or just upload one of them, and make the rest of them a child style of whichever style you imported as they all use the same images, and they all have the same template edits in them (Easier to upgrade like this ;)).

To install, just upload the contents of the upload folder and then go to:
AdminCP => Styles & Templates => Download / Upload Styles => And start importing :)

More customizations to follow, so don't forget to click installed! ;)

Which .xml did you install? There shouldn't be anything with the path to motivational/statusicon/ :confused:

Also, for the background image, make sure you upload the correct image for the correct .xml. For example:

usml-army-style.xml => army.jpg
usml-navy-style.xml => navy.jpg
usml-air-force-style.xml => airforce.jpg
usml-marine-corps-style.xml => marinecorps.jpg
usml-coast-guard-style.xml => coastguard.jpg

Ok, I found the problem. I will try to put out a fix later today. However, for now, you can do this:

Go to AdminCP
Styles & Templates
Style Manager
Style Variable Editor (for the style you uploaded)
Scroll down to the group ImagePaths
Select imgdir_statusicon
Select [Revert]

This may or may not be related to your plug-in here but the background image (army.jpg) renders only in one of my browsers, Firefox 7.0 It does not render in any of my other browsers for some reason that eludes me. I've run out of ideas but I'm sure it is a simple problem with a likely simple solution once discovered. I've not had this problem when using other styles in the past, only this one so that is why I'm here asking this question.

Does anyone have any ideas that might point me in the direction to figuring this out. I like this style very much and want to use it. I have installed it on my test board and if I can work this problem out I'd love to migrate it to my main board. This is installed on a completely unmodified new install of vB 4.1.7 and with a new pHp database.

I'm using vBulletin 4.1.7 and the following browsers:

Firefox 7.0
Chrome 14.0
IE 9 64bit
Maxthon 1.7
Maxthon 3.15

Link is at http://www.banjotimes.net/forum/forum.php but it currently is closed to the public as it is only a 'test board' but if you need to look at it opened I can set up a temp account to look at the board itself long enough to help me figure this out. OBTW. I substituted the army.jpg for my own but had to keep it named army.jpg as I could not find in the .xml file where to change the name to my .jpg image that I'm using.

Sorry about that. It wasn't anything to do with your plug-in. It was an oversight on my end during installation. I failed to set the default style to your new style in my AdminCP.

AdminCP => Settings => Options => Style & Language Settings => Default Style = Army

BTW. Is it possible to change the name of the army.jpg background image somewhere to reflect what I want for my board. I want to rename it to tbt.jpg from the army.jpg but couldn't find where to do that. I just renamed my image to army.jpg for now. It's a minor point but would like to keep some uniformity in my board style. Also, I really like this style a lot. Great job.

Well, providing all goes well, and no more style changes are made to 4.1.8, the next release of this should help most of you out :)

The CSS has been cleaned up A LOT and the body has been moved been closer to the navbar since there were a couple of requests for that.

You can view it live now, using the demo links provided in the first post.

I'm also open to any suggestions you may have :) I MAY leave the alternating forum color in there for the next release. (Hover over a forum category to see ;))

I really like this style. Very clean looking!

I was able to import it with the "Ignore style version" (which is didn't notices orginally) and it worked great.

Now a new question, I replaced the logo and noticed I need to move it down. I use post #13 and it didn't do anything. Then I did #49 and it worked perfect! It moved the logo down.


So how do I move the logo to the right? I want to play with either centering it, or just moving the left hand margin.... Right now is hugging to much to the left side.

I run two Navy boards, one for families http://www.navyfamilies.com/forum/forum.php , one for new sailors (called deppers) at http://www.navydep.com/forums/

My wallpaper on deppers site is kind of girly. While my family site now has the airplane from your style mod. They are reversed, the plane needs to be on my deppers site since it macho, and the design needs to be on my family site. The only reason I haven't upgraded my deppers site to VB 4.1.8 is I wanted a cool skin, which you have provided. Thanks....

So two more questions (hope you don't mind so many questions):

I try to teach new sailors the Navy before they go to boot camp. I want them to learn the basic info so they are ready. So I made up a "cheat sheet that they can study, while looking at my website. This way they are learning and having fun at the same time.

So I will be making a child of the style with this wallpaper:

I put my header as 1000px because they now can go back and forth and study this stuff. Go take a look at the site now, it really will work well teaching these guys/gals.

1. So how can I make the borders invisible too on your style? I want to show the jpg underneight. (see arrows)

2. How can I change the white text area to a different color, one of yours is invisible, which is probably the best, but I'll play with it to see if darker would look better.

That actually fixed the back ground to solid white (1.) which is exactly what I needed.
How do you make #2. invisible (no white transparent, just solid clear where you see the plane perfectly. I colored in area that needs to be transparent. See post #65 for my other website and you will see the arrows under the navbar (FAQ, Today's Post, Search).

Thanks. I made several changes that are unique to my board under past releases of your style and I still admire your theme a great deal so I hope you can make the changes a lot easier than I could. I will if I have to but I'm not a coder, only a manipulator or modifier of written code. A lot easier to manipulate / modify someone elses code for sure. Again, thanks.

No, not really (as far as I know). I tried something similar when I was creating this style and it screwed up other areas of the style.

On a side note, I just upgraded U.S. Military Life (http://www.usmilitarylife.com) to 4.1.10 Beta 1. Feel free to poke around and please report any issues you may notice. There have been several changes in this version.

That's not caused by my style. The only things changed as far as the profile is the profile is concerned were the colors/backgrounds. Where is that blue coming from?

As you can see here, it works perfectly fine on 4.1.10 and to my knowledge, nobody else has ever had any issues with the profile.

Another possibility is that you are on a version other than 4.1.10. With all the changes made in 4.1.10 with the CSS and StyleVars, this style is no longer compatible with prior versions.

I'm not so sure you can as the transparency is set via all of the stylevars. I'll try something when I get home and see what I can come up with, if anything.

Update: Not sure if this is what you're looking for, dej, but I tried this:

You don't move those. The images and file structure in the misc directory provided stay as they are.

No. You upload these just as you would any other style, and when you upload the folder provided, the path to it should be:

/public_html/images/motivational/

The only directory that needed customization was the misc directory. Everything else is used by the default vBulletin style.

What version of vBulletin do you have? If it's 4.1.10, uninstall the old style, and upload this one as a new style. If you have a version prior to 4.1.10, upload it, overwriting the existing style you currently have in place.

Yes, there were some changes made based off of that particular style, but they are also very different if you compare them closely. Also, you have it marked as Re-usable code, so yes, I used portions of that skin and made some updates to it as well as my own customizations and modifications. :up:

Love the theme by the way. So do the people I made the forum for.

One issue so far I am noticing that I am not sure how to fix yet.

Not sure if this is just me, but when I click on someone's username in a post and the menu pops up with Profile, PM, etc, it's so transparent that the text behind the menu overlaps so you can't see the links to Profile, PM, etc unless you mouse over it. Seems to do it in both chrome and firefox.

Beaty, love your style.

I've modified it a bit to match the style of my site (red to blue text, new icons, and backgrounds) but the white transparency is great. However, I'm trying to make this baby a shallower fixed width on the page. Currently I've set doc_width in the StyleVars to 75% and set the doc_margins to "auto" but I can't seem to get the forum to center on the page. I thought this may have something to do with the header image (which did not get narrow when I changed doc_width) so I reverted the style (that's why it's blue). Still won't narrow the header or center.

I actually inherited coding on my site and I'm awful at CSS and template edits. Any advice you could offer would be helpful. I'm at work so I can't get you a screen shot, but here's (http://www.althanas.com/world/forum.php?styleid=28) a glimpse of the mainpage.

Has anyone has any issues with using this theme in Chrome?

I'm not sure what happened, but all of a sudden threads that contain images/videos/text heavy

Are very choppy when you scoll.

This issue doesn't happen in any other browsers. The problem goes away temporarily when I clear the Cache.

This has been tested on multiple computers with chrome.

when I switch to the default theme, I have no issues what so ever.
