Since the upgrade from vb 3.8 to 4.1.6
All our moderators and registered users have been banned from the website upon entry (logging in). I have disable all plugins and this is not the cause.

And everytime i try to save a setting in the usergroup it reverts back to no

I really need some serious help!
Thank you for your time!!

This is probably not the site you are looking for!
You attempted to reach min.us, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as *.minus.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of min.us. You should not proceed.
hmmmmmm

What modifications do you have installed?
You can view via AdminCP > Plugins & Products > Product Manager

I have disabled every single one. Still no go. Here is the list

Product : VSa - Visitors in Last X Hours
Product : vBulletin CMS
Product : AWCoding- Back-End
HTML Markup in Recent Threads
Nestaron's ModCP User Administration

vBulletin Blog
Product : VSa - Auto Birthday Greeter
Instead of the banned message i am getting you do not have sufficient permission for moderators and normal users. Its definitely the usergroup issue but cannot figure out what it is. The person who upgraded our site from 3.8 to 4.1.6 did not do something right and is now unwilling to help. He initially charged 1,250$ for the whole thing including his own errors (and couldn't even fix it) and the time it took to respond to us via email. I refuse to pay for a broken service (he said in his invoice fine no charge) but seems like he no longer wants to help as a result. So frustrated!

Can you check the permissions for those groups, at the is banned area? What is it set to there?
An upgrade should not cause any such errors, that is if it is done properly. Did it happen imemdiately after the upgrade or was some other modification applied to the forum before this issue started to happen?

it was like this from the beginning. At the start normal users and moderators could not send PMs says something like " ___________ has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.
If you are trying to send this message to multiple recipients, remove ______ from the recipient list and send the message again."
After a day people getting banned. Progressively got worse yes. But I could not save usergroups permissions correctly since the upgrade. Also just noticed that my vbadvanced editor toolbar is missing and this

Just a load of issues.
As for the banned section I found this:
Banned Users: Permanent Ban Usergroups: BANNED, Registered Users, Unregistered / Not Logged In, Users Awaiting Email Confirmation

3.8 to 4.1.6... Did you upgrade all of the above listed modifications to their 4.x versions? If some were not available disable them for now... does the error still persist?
It seems like a outdated plugin issue imo.

when i checked he had some plugins from 3.8 after upgrading to vb4 and i asked myself why? But the site was functional the first 2 days (although many many issues). I just went along and removed all the old ones. But I still see my home for vb3.8 (vbadvanced) and new home vb 4.0. There are definitely some 3.8 stuff lingering around. You think i should uninstall all plugins? I have disabled them, isn't that pretty much same thing? I may be wrong about that.
Thank you.

Click on the links in admincp for the mods, if it brings you here to a 3.x version you know to disable for now, if you uninstall some mods it removes the previously saved data (permanently so be careful, you cannot recover this without a backup and for novices restoring is tedious) and you may wish to update that mod at a later time when it becomes available for 4.x etc etc. Very rarely some plugins even when the overall modification is disabled, do not disable all the plugins associated so I would also check the plugin manager to ensure they are disabled or if there was at one point a single plugin added that could be outdated.
You can also try disabling the modifications globally in the config file, see here and reference the top information only about disabling via config.php using define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

When they are disabled globally via the config file does the error still persist?

Tried disabling and on the main page I get this
Warning: fetch_template() calls should be replaced by the vB_Template class. Template name: forumhome_loggedinuser in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 4183
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home4/tbgclanc/public_html/forums.php(520) : eval()'d code on line 1
Warning: fetch_template() calls should be replaced by the vB_Template class. Template name: forumhome_loggedinuser in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 4183
I get a lot more error just no point posting it here
I reverted back successfully no issues to 3.8. Moved on to 4.1.6 to a sub domain and usergroup was still working but when i shift it to main site its back to the same old problem everything set to no and just a matter of time before it starts banning normal users and moderators...
For administrator whenever i save anything for MY permissions it says invalid group specified.
