Maybe i'm just blind, but can someone tell me how i can choose which picture i want as the preview in a cms article?
Let's say i have:
text
--pictureA--
text
more text
--pictureB--
even more text
How can i tell the article that pictureB is my preview picture? Or is this another basic function the cms doesn't has?

Whichever Picture you upload FIRST into the article is going to be the one that becomes your "preview" image. So if you want "PictureB" to be the one to appear, you'll have to upload that first. It doesn't matter WHERE the photo appears in the article, just which one that was uploaded First.
I've literally had to delete 20 instructional photos from a page and re-upload them 1 by 1 in the order I want them to appear in order to have the preview image work properly.

Thanks for your answer.
So i have to use the attachment system for the pictures for them to have priority? I mean it's not just attachted pictures where i want options. Most of the time we will use the img tag (and upload the pictures to a subdomain so they don't fill up the users attachment space). In addition what about videos. How can tell the system that i want the video and not the 3 pictures above it as preview?

As far as I've experienced, Yes.

Whatever is posted first is what will show.

You can actually just go to manage attachments and drag the image you want to be first in the upload window and select done, whichever is first there is the preview image.
