Hello People Be Kind,

I have been dropped in it to build and run a forum and have no idea what, or how to do even basic things, but its up and people can post.

So My question is no matter what text method I use Basic, Advanced, or Standard. My text box does not look like the one i'm typing into now. I have no Smilies, no options at all for changing text, font etc, just a basic box with nothing around it and no options. I do see the widgets under the box. this is the same for ALL users, and the same in advanced.
In the CP I have tried all 3 options from basic to WYSIWYG, and the box is the same in all views.

Also if you use the txt code for a smile it will appear so they are loaded and do work just you have no way of selecting them. Smilies are .png if that helps!

So its version 4.1.6, I have advanced text selected and its pretty much as it came out of the box, as I have just started.

I have used the search facility on here so before I get told to look I have but most of the links are talking about the web address being placed in front of the location for the Smilies that is not the case here.

If you want to see the problem have a look at www.stratosec.com/forum no I'm not plugging the site but it helps if you see the fault.

And the buttons at the top of the forum "home, Forum Blogs" etc what are they called I need to make a new one but cant search that as I dont know what you call them.

Thanks in advance.....

Posting a link to the forum is one of the best ways to show a problem so don't worry about some one thinking you're plugging the forum.
As for the text editor goes can't help you there. But the buttons you refer to are in the navbar. The links under it are the navbartabs. The login is toplinks. You can edit them to some extent in the stylevars but to really get in to them look in vbullentin_chrome.css.
The really simple way to add buttons to the navbar is to use a mod. I use > https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=228507 It's a lot less complicated than jiggering code around in the templates.

IN the settings have you looked at all the options in the "Message Posting Interface Options"

there are 3 drop down menus first and you need to have " enable standard and WYSIWYG"

After that you can decide how many smiles you want to show in the reply page etc.

Not sure if that's your issue though, not sure why the rest of the boxes aren't showing.

Hi Spacehopper,
Checked and the 3 dropdown are set at WYSIWYG and the 3 other settings at at 15, 3, 15 which is standard.

In the forum at the bottom of a thread you see the posting options box and this is what it shows:

You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may post attachments
You may edit your posts

BB code is On
Smilies are On
[IMG] code is On
HTML code is Off

But still no box to change fonts, colour, size, or smilies... I'm at a loss when the setting appear correct but nothing is showing...

Is there a master default switch to put it back to the begining? (Not that they were there then to be fair)...

Can we get a test username/password to be able to view the editor problem on your site?

Also, Create a new style with no parent:

Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style
Parent Style: No Parent Style
Title: Default vBulletin
Allow User Selection: Yes
Save

Then browse the site using that totally default vbulletin style - do you still have the same problem?

1. Add www.stratosec.com to AdminCP > Settings > Options > General Settings > Post Referrer Whitelist.

2. Go to AdminCP > Settings > Options > Style & Language Settings > and set Default Style for Modern Mobile Browsers and Default Style for Old Mobile Browsers to NONE.
