Hi,

Hope someone can help with this...

I'm having a problem with members posting misleading links. So for instance, the below says yahoo, but it goes to google.

http://www.yahoo.co.uk (http://www.google.co.uk)

Is there a way I can prevent this?

I don't know how you can stop that. People really should know to check where the url goes in their browser before actually clicking it.

That is called thread hijacking and it is very much frowned upon. If someone knows the answer to your thread, then they will post in it - you don't need to go into other people's threads and ask them to view yours.

There used to be a mod called "Link Interceptor", that would display the actual URL before leaving your site. No clue if it made it to vB4 or not.

They should - but the vast majority dont - particularly on devices.

Would removing parsed links work? - If so, would there be any SEO downsides?

Thanks - will keep an eye out.

If you disalbe link bbcode ( AdminCP > Settings > Options > bbcode options > enable build in bb code tags), then they would not be able to do what they are doing. However, you also wouldn't have clickable links in your posts either.
