View Full Version : vBulletin CMS Grid - (Scalemotorcars.com) Custom 10 Field CMS Grid Layout

This is a custom grid that adds several new rows to your layout as well an extra header and extra footer. In all there are 10 fields.
Live Demo HERE.................... (http://www.scalemotorcars.com/)
I pieced this together by flattening the existing CMS grids and taking the parts I wanted then compared it to the YUI Library. I not 100% sure its formatted correctly so please test it before using it live.
It's been verified to work in these browsers.: D
IE 9
Firefox
Chrome
Avant
Opera
This should work on all post 4.0.0 boards but it has only been run on my 4.1.4. Again test it before using it live.
This is not supported. I'm just sharing what I've done with SMC. Please feel free to make adjustments and post the new XML files. Enjoy.......
Note: to add a space between each row use this mod. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=245994&highlight=notices&page=4
Please Mark installed if you use it. Thanks...
Update: Just updated the file to reflect the actual layout. Also I should mention this was designed for a fixed 1040 style but it should work on fluid as well.

Thank you so much for such beautiful grid and help. Installed and nominated. Could please explain how you set fixed width page? And what's the widget code for "ask a question" in ur demo page? Thank you

The Ask a Question is a paid widget. Here....http://lancerforhire.com/forums/forum.php
The fixed width is set with stylevar doc_width. If you do a quick search here you'll find a how to on it.

It's installed, marked but it isn't allowing me to stack 2 on 3 columns. I like your website layout, but I can't seem to get that layout from your 10 fields xml download. Are you flattening and stacking them? Is that how that works? Thanks for any feedback.

To make the grid I flattened out some of default grids and just took what I need to build this one. Once you upload the grid you should be able to stack as many widgets as you want in each area. Just be sure to select the grid for the pages you want it on.
Now it was built with 4.1.4 and has not been tested on anything newer then that so it could very well be a code issue with a newer version.

Hello, nice grid. I have a question, is it posible to have fixed the width of the right column
Where now is 75% (fluid) /25% (fluid)
And leave that area as 100%(fluid) /240px (fixed) ???
Thanks!

I'm using this as my major grid and the magazine grid. It is awesome That these are on offer from very generous souls.
Is there a place I can access as a tutorial to build vB grids, I'm that frustrated I'll learn and come back with plenty..
What we are really crying for, speaking as a publisher is a bbcode in the WYSIWYG that will offer a few lay out grids, as many as feasible....and Justify and special characters...I'm a publisher...ALL vBulletin is based around the b.. forums and as an actual Publishing suite ignored. A WYSIWYG that including a Pixlr or Pagemaker like interface, an Attachment Manager in Calendars so my R&R members can easily upload their pics from their computer, I mean why ISN'T it there? Dreaming?
Having said that there are a few cms options but have been put into packages that you have to mold your site around but all high maintenance
Citizen journalism is on the rise...I MEAN REALLY on the rise, the main functions to enhance that experience are ignored because you are ALL forum freaks, and that's cool and this almost buried Publishing suite is awesome and can be awesomer with what seems a few cool tweaks.
I don't use my forums as forums, purely editing suites for my contributors or as RSS captures (found out last night Safari is brilliant for picking up great feeds in their browser).
Sorry for the rave but btt...grids of a more diverse nature will make vB CMS extremelt attractive:p

Hi Scalemotorcars
I tested your great grid in my forum (4.2.1), everything is OK, except one thing.
The widget rows don't have the same width (some pixels offset between every row and another).
Any suggestion to fix this?
Thanks.
