I want to know who else here uses CloudFlare with vBulletin.
Did you guys see any improvements?
I use vBulletin 4.
Did you guys run into any trouble using ClouFlare?
Does your website go down for a certain period of time since you are changing DNS?
My website currently loads almost instatly for me www.47r-squad.com but I was looking to add cloudflare so people outside the US can load my website fast too.

If you don't know what cloudflare is, check out www.cloudflare.com

I just got a letter from my host that Cloudflare has been installed on the shared servers and can be enabled in cpanel.

I too would like to hear some experiences before I throw the switch.

ISP? You mean webhost?
Same here, I am looking for someone that is currently running cloudflare with their vBulletin website.

I love them.

A lot of the features available in vBOptimise and vBSupercharged are available to you through Cloudflare. Kind of renders those modifications useless.

There are apps available through cloudflare such as viglinks and apture which I really enjoy.

The fact that my amazon publisher id is automatically attached to my apture account for affiliate bonuses is a big plus.

It's got extra security and will triple your site traffic.

And there's only the one edit to be made to the one vbulletin core file, then everything - mods and all - work normally?

I've also just noticed it in my cpanel, curious to know if anybody is running the free version of it.

It's great, however it causes the forum to go down quite often than usual.

Cloudflare has been down lately for me too. It goes down around 1 hour a month or so. The only good thing about the downtime is it doesn't affect all your users. The features cloudflare provides are great though.

Hello, I can jump on this band-wagon :D.

No issues to date, I'm on my site "methodically" as a old friend once said about me on another site lol... point being I'm on morning, nights, weekends and have not noticed one issue to date with it.

I suppose it's an of an era for overcharging piece of plugins such as vboptimise!
If my website grows then the premium plan might be worth it.
$20 is still a lot of money when comparing to maxCDN which is $40 a year for a terabyte.

Why would cloudflare going down affect anyone? I've heard that just turns off the caching and returns your server to the way it was before Cloudflare. Or is that not true?

And again, is that one core file the only change one needs to make to vb?

I used the free version for a month or so. It's worth it.

There isn't that much difference between going pro because all you have is two extra features that you don't really need. I might cancel my pro.

I'll look into adding it in few weeks.
My website is still in development mode, I have tons of stuff that I need to add.

I think I'll keep their pro package because their customer service was really great even when it was free. I think you should add them now even while your site is in development mode. If your using vbSEO and Cloudflare at the same time by the time your site is complete it will already have a really awesome ranking.

I hear you had some issues editing stuff or posts and things didn't work out with Rocketloader on.
I think I might be mis-understanding the whole thing.
Also, did it take a while for it to propagate the DNS?

I had trouble with rocketloader.

I've done some extensive testing with cloudflare on my site and I know that some of the modifications on my site will not jive well with programs that try to minimize your javascript, css and html. This includes programs like vbOptimise and vBSupercharged. A lot of the options in those programs, including Rocketloader are not suited for multimedia sites like ours.

Here are my cloudflare settings:

Account Type: Pro
Basic Security Level: Low
Caching Level: Aggressive
Minimum Expire TTL: 4 Hours
Auto Minify: Off
Rocket Loader: Off
Challenge Passage TTL: 30 min
Advanced Security (Pro Feature): Off
Website Preloader (Pro Feature): On
Outbound Links Tracking: On
Email Address Obfuscation: On
Server Side Exclude: On
Always Online: On
IP Geolocation: On
Google Analytics: Yup!
Browser Integrity Check: On
Hotlink Protection: Off

Get your host to help you out with that DNS stuff.

All I know is that once you have cloudflare on, any site that you add to your domain will be covered. For example, when I added wordpress as my home page, cloudflare was automatically added. As long as your subdomain or domain address is www.yoursite then you are good.

I'm not a coder or that technically literate but I know a couple tricks.
You only learn stuff by researching, asking questions and experimenting.

K now lets look at my Apps list.

Apture: On (Don't forget to tie your Amazon affliates ID to your apture account)
CDNJS: Modernizr Only
Google Analytics: On
Google Webmaster Tools: On
VigLinks: On

^^^All five you would normally have to put in the header/header include/footer of vBulletin.

You no longer have to with Cloudflare.

I got an email about the app Halieo. I'm considering activating it.

Everything but ONE thing I have activated (website preloader) is apart of their free service.

That is a monster of a deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you need to edit your forum, purge your cache and turn Development Mode ON and wait ten minutes, then edit.

Also, might as well give up on getting As across the board at webpagetest.org because webpagetest.org has algorithm problems with cloudflare activated. It's not totally accurate. Only test results you can depend on is the members of your site. They will personally tell you that the site is loading faster if you ask them.
