About this add-on :
G.1404: News and Announcements is a simple add-on that helps you manage information for the forum: news, announcements. System operation is simple and capable of highly customized, particularly flexible in the use, additional, ads and notifications popup feature alongside content information and notification.
This add-on is developed in three directions: Basic, Standard and Advanced. This is the Basic version.
Feature :

News and Announcements Basic : with some text variables following :

{bbtitle} : Forum Name (in option : Site Name / URL / Contact Details) ; (new in v1.0.6 Beta 2)
{bburl} : Forum URL (in option : Site Name / URL / Contact Details) ; (new in v1.0.6 Beta 2)
{username} : User Name (non-markup with HTML) ; (new in v1.0.6 Beta 2)
{musername} : User Name (markup with HTML) ; (new in v1.0.6 Beta 2)
{userid} : User ID ; (new in v1.0.6 Beta 2)
{sessionurl}, {sessionurl_q} : Replace for this session variable : {vb:raw session.sessionurl} and {vb:raw session.sessionurl_q} in URLs. (new in v1.0.6 Beta 2)

News and Announcements Advanced : with some effects following :

SlideUp : news and announcements are displayed in turn in a line, scroll to the bottom-up.
Scroll : news and announcements are displayed in turn in a line, scroll from right to left.
Lined : news and announcements are displayed in turn in a line, change one like slide. (new in v1.0.5)
Fade : news and announcements are displayed in turn in a line, change one like fade. (new in v1.0.5)

Additional and integrate feature :

[Additional] Advertiment : displaying small ads box next to news and announcements main box, especially can be customized to show what you want.
Notifications Popup : change the default method of the vBulletin to display notifications with popup window by a small message box, friendly interface. (new in v1.0.6 Beta 1)


Install :

Download attachment file : G.1404.News.and.Announcements.v1.0.6.Beta.2.zip.
Unzip and upload 2 folders : clientscript and images in upload folder to forum root.
Import file product-news_announcements.xml in xml folder.
AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Product -> [Add/Import Product].
Optional - Reset default setting.
AdminCP -> Settings -> Options -> G.1404 : News and Announcements.

Upgrade :

Step 1 and 2 in Install process.
Import file product-news_announcements.xml in xml folder.
AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Product -> [Add/Import Product].
Make sure Allow Overwrite set Yes.
Check all settings again.

Additional info : use for Notifications Popup
This notice effect to who use Notifications Popup. In forum that Administrator enable Pop up a Notification Box When a Private Message is Received for all users and now use the integrated features to replace it, there is a troubling is that both systems work together.
I have a solution to help you overcome this problem, see the instructions below and perform :

Open [I]config.php file, go to the location (usually line 126) :
$config['SpecialUsers']['canrunqueries'] = '';
Enter in '' your administrator id (usually you), eg :
$config['SpecialUsers']['canrunqueries'] = '1';
Save and update to old file.
In AdminCP, go to : Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query.
At Automatic Query select : No - Pop up a Notification Box When a Private Message is Received and click Continue.
Continue with : Confirm Query Execution click Continue.
When successful, you will see : Affected Rows: XX (XXXs), click Restart to complete.

the "Content for News and Announcements (basic feature)" box .. if possible split into sections similar to the advanced section ..so u can still incorporate html coding etc in the box ... and then have these sections on a Scroll Up / Scroll Down / Prev. / Next etc .. similar to a slider

slide up function did not work in my internet explorer but it is working in my chrome.i uninstall and reinstall ie 8 but nothing changed.

I figured it out, Amped, but I do have a suggestion for the next beta.

You know how you can scroll through the line announcements (1-10?), it would be absolutely amazing if you could make it so the announcement content scrolls as well. That way you could have 10 different announcements each with different content.

Yap, I think so. You can test with fresh template with new style.
How : Create new style, if my modification work normal, maybe your have problem. If continue not work, patch level will be make.

Well the scripts used are simple "object" for video player from ustream

First, you can try clear your browser cache, then, view js file (in your hosting) via browser, if have this line :

1 minor problem is that the avatar doesn't show up .. it looks for:

which there is no such file ...

Also when the notification box is on ..... I have a flash window on my page and the notification box goes behind the flash window ... is there a way to make sure the notification box goes IN FRONT of this flash window?

So, this product is preventing my forum from having the official mobile skin to work. Any way to disable this product for that specific skin? I'm fairly sure the plugin that is causing this is G.1404 : News and Announcements - Main work with building templates

Hello, when you edit Ads box you have to change News and Announcements box too.
Go to Style Manager -> Edit Templates -> CSS Templates -> g1404-news-announcements.css
Then, search for :
#news_classic .block-left {
float:{vb:stylevar left};
width:79%;
margin:0px;
}
#news_classic .block-right {
float:{vb:stylevar right};
width:20%;
margin:0px;
}
(this CSS built for Classic skin, so, if you dont use this skin, dont need edit it)
And
#news_sideblock .block-left {
float:{vb:stylevar left};
width:79%;
margin:0px;
}
#news_sideblock .block-right {
float:{vb:stylevar right};
width:20%;
margin:0px;
}

Thank you for your comment and suggestion. Too more work to do now.
But, at least, I will upgrade into version 1.0.7 instead of version 1.0.6 or 1.0.7 beta. Yeah, and, of course, new feature will be added beside common fixed bugs.
I will give you new feature info as soon as it in close beta stage.

I have a question, I have installed this mod and is working fine, but, I have detected a bug.

When you insert a youtube video (new iframe), in google chrome when you minimize the box, and refresh page, the video shows in top left of the page.

In explorer and firefox it minimizes correctly and don't show the video.

Any help?

I'm using vB4.2 p3, and having problem with IE (IE9). Some reasons the status icon was stuck on the header when I enabled this mod. You can see it in the attachment .
