For example here:

The prefix dropdown box like that, but also so it appears in the title.

vBulletin Prefix's will appear in the title (if selected), by default, in vBulletin 4.

Is there a way to modify it so its bold an has a hyphen afterwards, or parenthesis around them

Add the appropriate markup around the prefix when creating or editing it.. (rich text)

EX: <b>PREFIX</b>
