Creating a second forum (vB install) but allowing user account sharing

Hi,

I have a popular forum running on vB 4.x, it has over 60,000 members and is well established within its field.

I'm looking to create a new forum under a new domain with new install of vB.

Now, I want these to be separate forums but I'd like the ability for users of my current forum to be able to login to the new forum (and visa versa) with some sort of account sync or "bridge" between the forums.

Has anyone done this before? Are there mods to deal with it? Or do I need to write something bespoke?

Have you looked in the articles forum? I could have sworn I saw someone post one way to deal with this.

There is an early/alpha stage mod that has been discontinued and it is not supported
