July Updates - Like System

A few changes have been made to the system ;


* Likes are now Ajax based.

* Likes Given & Received display added to usercp.

* Likes links updated to go to '#likes' in user profile.

* Added a background colour to 'Likes' display & padded it out slightly.

* Disabled the time check on modification first posts, then can be 'Liked' at any time.

* Fixed the broken redirect link after 'Liking' a post.

* Fixed the phrases to be more consistant.

* Added a notification in the header of new 'Likes' - it is optional (same as Unread Posts).

* Added Likes notification option - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/profile.php?do=editoptions , Miscellaneous Options (at the bottom).

Thanks - AJAX makes it a lot more usable, and the notifications a lot more helpful. The blue looks a lot better as well.

I think that it's just a modification of vbulletin's reputation system. I noticed a few months ago that it can very easily be tweaked to serve that purpose, and have done so on my site (about 10 plugins and a few template/JS changes were necessary). It works pretty much just like it does here, except that I've kept the commenting feature and reputation points are visible (1 like = 1 point).

One additional feature that I can recommend is a listing of the top likes at the top of each thread:

It's already been stated many different times, in many different threads that the like system on vb.org isn't going to be released

Mark was referring to his own system, which is a tweak of Abes mod. The system here is, as you say, a tweaking of the reputation system.
Reputation is also still involved in mine too, via Abe's mod, and then also one of your own mods that does rep notifications.....that's how I get like notifications.

Don't know even how vb.org would put this into a mod, when it has been clearly stated that it's a tweak to the reputation system, which means they modified the default reputation system vBulletin has.

On the other hand, I love the new tweak! it's very unique apart from the default reputation system.

There are a few mods out that do this, I have really Liked my pro version from Dbytes. I don't see a need for it to be a native feature.

No, I'm really posting to say I dislike something about the system. I wanted to "Like" a post from a member for updating one of his Addons, and then I wanted to "Like" another post of his for a separate Addon. The second one would not allow me to "like," telling me that I have to go "Like" someone else first.

Demmit, why can't I just "Like" what I like? X3 I know it's there to prevent abuse or whatever, but if I like two things by the same person, I like two things by the same person, darnit.

Had me hunting for nearby posts that I could like, but couldn't find any.
