Hopefully I'm not the only one noticed this, last days, I have seen at least one thread being created a day by some random bot at vbulletin.org.
Maybe you can just delete it with one click but for the official vbulletin modifications site, we are expecting more.
At least a solution to stop them better than doing the same tasks - delete account and post day by day. It must be boring right?

What's there to be done? Better anti-spam bot protection at the register page?

Jeff,
Forums all around the world are spammed in a similar manner every day, unless you manually approve all members there's truly no way of stopping it except by having a paid only site (lancerforhire I'm anticipating you posting here :p j/k j/k). Some are human every now and then and can bypass even the most supposedly "intuitive" anti-spam systems. Something that everyone currently knows and if not should learn and bear in mind is, it's a never ending battle against spam just like cable rates rising each year . Some have however found solutions or a combination of a few that work well together proving to suit their site better in regards to preventing spam.
Also the spam comes day by day as you said so we must address it day to day and can't foresee a spambot planning to join and post later that night in fact nothing available can unless your going by IP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address) and then what's to stop those in other countries who can simply unplug their modem and then it resets w/ a new IP from coming back? Again it's never ending but up to those who are site owners and admins to find a solution ideal for their site, I believe it's setup fine here and what gets in is tolerable considering the staff on hand who remove said posts promptly.

Hi Mike,
I fully understand how the spam works and how hard to make it stop. It's nearly impossible in a general forum.
I'm running a forum for paid subscribers and the method I'm using there that I manually verify all new registered users.
St like,
-Knock, knock!
-Who's there!
-Hi I'm a human
-So did you paid the subscribsion ?
-Hi I'm a human
-So...then get the...out of here j/k
When I'm posting this thread, I was though about the method that only licensed customer can creat a newthread, now I realize that I totally forgot the pre-sales question section so...there's are really no effective way.
Btw, hope someday we will beat all the spammers to the graveyard.

vb.org seems to get an amount of spam thats way higher than the average vbulletin website. For many months I have been reporting spammers here. You would greatly decrease it by adding SOM and vbBB. I assume that you have not installed these addons, because the spam prevalence is so high.

No it doesnt. We get about 1 or 2 a day, hardly high IMO. We also have a one click ban system that does everything in a few seconds. This is a non issue. :)

1 or 2 a day isn't bad at all for such a popular board. My community is fairly small, around 90k posts, and gets 1-2 every other day.

Then it has decreased and is indeed a non-issue. I was reporting more than that, some time ago.

Sometimes 1 spammer hits multiple threads.

I have my site set at approving new members. There was this one polish site that was trying to spam me to high hell and if I hadn't had it set like that, I would have been buried under them...none of the spam blockers I've used have worked so keeping the the site on lockdown has helped me...
