StyleVars or css locations - Blog color customization

Just upgraded to 4.1.4
First it was a nightmare
Now the colors on my custom them are all frelled up
AND the StyleVars 'dictionary' for Blogs is wayyyy out of date or something because the stylevars stipulated for governing what I'm trying to fix doesn't do a dang thing
AND
now besides the CSS templates>blog.css there is a Blog templates>blog.css (that is totally blank =/ wth?)
So what the heck do I do to fix the 'background color' most of what is in the 'blue' outlined box in the pic below and I can't find where to fix the color for the fonts for the dropdown/inline mod popupcontrol (outlined with red box) (this is the 'page' that opens when initially clicking on 'blogs' tab)

and yes I've tried Firebug, but all it tells me is 'wrapper'

Resolved first image 'blueboxed' area color issue, can't remember where tho.

Inline mod font color issue still unresolved despite efforts to change in various css files

'bloglist table' issue still unresolved.

Does *anyone* know where these two things can be fixed?

Resolved the 'bloglist table' background color issue AND the blog background color issue, but, still can't seem to fix the inline mod (outlined in red) issue. I've used firebug to find inspect the elements and searched templates for those elements to no avail/that didn't help.

Does *anyone* have *any* idea how I can fix this?
