New users unable to log back in

Anytime a new member signs up they are good to go until they log out and then they cannot log back in because the forum doesn't remember their password.

I recently installed a security patch but not sure if that has anything to do with it. I was told to maybe try to run update.php? I have no clue what to do. Any help would be appreciated..

What version are you running? And what security patch did you install?

Im running vbulletin 4.0.2 patch level 5. I installed a security patch which came out beginning of April which kept people from running queries on the mysql database. My forum was butchered using this vulnerability so I had to revert to a backup I had 1.5 yrs ago, and installed the security patch. Now the forum does not remember users passwords.

Should I just upgrade to the latest version to see if that fixes it?

You cannot just import and old database and not run the upgrade script on it or you will have problems.
