Credit for this code and it's investigative work goes to digitalpoint, in his artical on optimizing vbulletin (http://articles.digitalpoint.com/content.php?r=7-Optimize-vBulletin-4).

Credit for making this hack know to me goes to Special Pages (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=409756).

This plugin makes your forum load quicker, by cleaning your cache (which never gets cleaned up).... One member has reported a there site starting at 8.56 seconds before this mod but after installing.. 5.73 seconds

How about thanking, digitalpoint, the true author of this code? Did you secure his permission to release it as a mod?

As far as I'm aware Special Pages is the original author... the page is linked in the header. I asked for his permission to package this into an .xml and recieved it.

Because it wasn't my idea my usual footer link in the xml has been left out.

How about you try to be helpful and give me a link to the Digital Point article, so I can investigate this properly tommorow evening.

Did you bother reading TheLastSuperman's post in Special Pages' thread? He linked it there, IIRC.

Thanks for your help found the post (I designed this and prepared it for release before that post was made), I'll send him (digitalpoint) a PM. Asking if he wants it removed or credit where it's due.

p.s Don't think the bad in everyone... I'm sure Special Pages was trying to be helpful, as was I

Permission has been granted by digitalpoint via pm on his forums, I will edit this mod tommorow to properly credit his artical.

I would appriate if a mod could edit out this series of posts as they have nothing to do with support of the modification (happy to provide proof of said permission if you pm me)

The simplicity means it can't really not... if you look at your plugins there should be an item there

You can trust the code to work because its recommended by the likes of digitapoint

I'd put my money on him being the first to figure it out. It has been posted in his article for quite a while. Way before you claimed it as yours.

I'm going to be completely honest here.. I tried to hold back I always do however Special Pages, riceboi... I'm not sure what to call you but this is you here posting correct?

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/371406-Optimizing-vB4?

Less than 10 days before you posted that as a mod and you mean to tell me your memory slipped that badly? You even further down the page said it was code you used and it worked then furthermore you quoted and agreed it was in fact by digitalpoint. It's not the fact that it's a simple bit of code... heck even I said it's not like you can copyright something that simple that is meant to be used and sell it as a commercial modification *It's the simple point of the matter and your attitude that ruin it entirely.

Now you can come back with something yet your the type who justifies themselves and I'll have no part of it especially when you make a mod, a written example and instruct to post a new thread then link to it in your options for TOS or Privacy Policy was it? Remember that where you were being chewed out by another member for wanting a copyright at the bottom of the text? Not even a few weeks later you quote another member who was complaining about too many branding copyrights in the footer and agree now if that's not hypocritical I don't know what is, hey we're all free to change our minds but this many contradictions in such a short time throws a red flag up imo and I'm not sure what game your playing but I'm on the sideline for a reason.

Yes, most of us here do pay attention and will call you out if we feel your doing something wrong.

nitra have U benchmarks now?

Not enough vistors to my site for a accurate sample, maybe someone will post them... but tbh if it's recommended by Digitalpoint (one of the first VB forums I visited after I bought VB4) it's proberbly a good move...

Functionally in 3.8.7?

I don't know if it's necessary in 3.8 or not but I know this code would never work in 3.8, the file "class_bootstrap_framework.php" doesn't even exist in 3.8.

I'm going to be installing a custom style soon would this speed that up too or is just purely the original vB4 style?

In my Scheduled task there are two Hourly Clean up Scripts

Hourly Cleanup and
Hourly Cleanup #2

When I press edit, it shows these scripts are product of Vbulletin and not of Mod-Mall Cache. How to run this.

stevectaylor
10-15-2012, 05:59 AM
take it it's not useful after 4.17+

riskreward
10-16-2012, 02:56 AM
Anyone? Where is the script file located ? Without that how to create scheduled task

BirdOPrey5
10-16-2012, 06:54 PM
There is nothing you need to do to activate it other than install it.

Once it's installed it's active.

It automatically runs when the hourly cleanup task runs.
