There shouldn't be any issues, but I would suggest backing up your system before doing it.

I've never made the jump from 1.2.5 to 1.4.4 so that's the best advice I can give.

Just recently installed this add-on. Few problems.

First I'm sure it resetted my navbar so what was once domain.com/forums/index.php - it reverted to domain.com/forums/forum.php (The latter of which doesn't exist).

What version of vB are you running?

The application forms system doesn't touch the navbar, except to add it's own tab.

If all you have is the javascript link, then you don't have any applications available to the admin usergroup. A dropdown of the available application types should come up when you click the link. Go to ACP->Application Forms and check BOTH the application types and application positions to be sure the admin usergroup has access to them.

The 'Application Form' navtab shows a dropdown of the available Application Types. If you don't see anything when you click on the tab, that means your usergroup doesn't have permission to view the types or any positions in the types.

The same applies to the community menu dropdown.

Give your usergroup 'Allowed Usergroups' permissions in the Application Type and Application Position.

Try the following:

Replace "htmlentities" with "htmlspecialchars" in "admincp/advappadmin.php" and "application-edit.php".

It appears once in each file, so replace:

$expected = htmlentities($expected, ENT_QUOTES);


with:

$expected = htmlspecialchars($expected, ENT_QUOTES);


I had a similar problem with Greek characters and that's the only I way I could get around it. I guess it has something to do with my CentOS configuration, but I didn't get any deeper.

I don't think that this version of Advanced Application Forms is compatible with vB5.

You haven't done anything wrong. The vB5 version of this mod does not work with the current version of vB5. Did you not see this in the mod's description..

UNTIL VB5 STABILIZES THIS MOD WILL BE UNSUPPORTED AND WILL NOT BE UPDATED

Is there any way to utilize a form in a CMS widget? I copied all of the HTML code and it works, but it doesn't pull in the security token. All I need is to pull in the security token in the widget, I can try to figure everything else out on my own. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Please disregard the securitykey issue. I have resolved that, now my only issue is getting {vb:raw username} to work.
EDIT #2: Ok, I got everything worked out. Please disregard the entire message. I had to use {vb:raw bbuserinfo.username} instead. I now have the form working in a widget :)

That's ok. I knew it wasn't supported. It doesn't pull the live code since I have the questions hard set in the widget template but it does work. Later I may look at getting it to pull the questions directly. I'm not much of a coder though so this may be as good as it gets. I appreciate the response.

There's one more thing that's bugging me. Is it possible to have the email and PM sent from the form submission include a link to the user profile? It seems that the system won't allow you to reply to the PM (presumably because it's a system message and not user) so it's difficult to reply without copy/pasting their username into a new PM message.

You can reply to the PM. If you can't reply, then either a setting for you or the user sending the PM is stopping the reply. Or, another mod is stopping the reply.

You would need to edit the application-forms.php file to do that. I do not provide or support custom coding with free support, so you're on your own there.

You would need to edit the advapp_title phrase. Be aware that if you do that, anywhere on your site that you see 'Application Forms' will be changed.

Disregard once again. I found the issue. I will leave the original post below so others who have this issue can get it resolved.

Alright.. This was working perfectly fine for me before. Now, its not working at all.

If I click on the Application Forms nav bar button, it does nothing. You can see a very small box appear where it normally would with the application types.

when i go to the url of the application type itself, it says I do not have access to it. I have gone through all the settings and they are set correctly.

Note: This works PERFECTLY for all other users, including Global Mods and other Admins. It is just MY account that is doing this. I am the original account on the forum, User ID #1. The other admin is listed as a SuperAdmin in the config as well. Our accounts are nearly identical. No idea what is going on. Any ideas are appreciated!

When I setup FB Connect, the auto usergroup is Awaiting Moderation so I can approve or deny members. I was listed under that usergroup when I connected my account. It auto added me to the Awaiting Moderation group and it denied my access to the applications.

It would be less work if one could define notification (email/pm/thread) on the groups instead of each job position.

The reason the notification is in the application itself is so each application can be directed to the proper person. Putting it in the application type would defeat that purpose since applications for let's say 'employment' could go to different departments.

That is a vBulletin phrase. You need to edit the phrase 'advapp_off' in ACP->Languages & Phrases->Search Phrases. Enter the name of the phrase, tick 'Phrase Variable Name Only' and click find.

Sorry for the double post but I'm having some issues coming up with a good search for what I'm looking to do next.

Currently I have the form set up so that when submitted opens a new thread in a forum that is restricted to specific usergroups. I would like to make the thread created by the form visible to the applicant without giving them full access to see all other submissions.

I'm not sure if this question is best suited for you or if it's a general setup of the forum itself that I need to work on, so apologies if this isn't the right place.

That's actually a vBulletin setting that has nothing to do with the AAF system.

First set AAF up so the user posting the thread is the user submitting the application by setting the 'Poster ID' to zero.

Then go to ACP->Forums & Moderators->Forum Permissions. Select the usergroup that the people filling out the forum belong to and set it up so they can view the forum. BUT...

Change these settings to 'NO'..
Can View Others' Threads
Can Reply to Others' Threads
Can Tag Others' Threads

That should accomplish what you want.

Not a bug.

There should never be an instance when that link is provided directly without being on the list of application forms where an error is thrown if an application isn't selected.

If you're providing a direct link, then the bug is in your link, not in the AAF system.

The only "change" you maybe need is to translate in your language, if dont want in english.

Make sure you're uploading the CONTENTS of the upload folder, not the upload folder itself. And that you've uploaded them to the same folder that vB is in.

You can't put it in the middle, you have a choice between navtab_start and navtab_end.

Edit the 'Advanced Application Form', 'parse_templates' plugin and change $template_hook['navtab_end'] to $template_hook['navtab_start']

The application system isn't meant to be held in a forum. I'm surprised it works at all for you.

But, what you're asking about has nothing to do with this add-on.

If you've added a link to the application forms, then the forum_link icon is missing from your style.

If you're able to fill out the application, it should post without a problem.

Check to be sure you have 'Post in New Thread' checked in the Position and that the Post User ID has a valid user ID in it.

Would it be possible when adding/editing a position within a category to make the categories a select box instead of the current radio-buttons?

That's not possible because each application position can only belong to one application type. To enable what you want to do would take quite a few changes in the code. And while I am supporting all of my add-ons for vB4 with bug fixes, I am not adding any new features to them.

A bit clarification, maybe misunderstanding.
Currently categories are shown as in upper [] ,me asks if its possible to show them like in the lower [] .
It would still be single select.

The forms do not have a character limit. If you are having problems, check your PHP configuration. In particular the memory_limit and post_max_size.

Since the holidays are over, I will now ask why you want it changed to a dropdown?

It's a simple change from my standpoint, but I can't see any good reason why that should be done.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion! Currently the post_max_size is set to 128M and the memory_limit to 512M, which should probably be enough for a single post. Is there anything else you could think of that might work?

Since a 404 error is a 'Page Not Found' error, something is wrong somewhere on your system. Either a redirect or the page the user is being sent to doesn't exist on your server.

Yea, that's what I figured at first as well. However the form works, it just results in a 404 when it exceeds a certain character limit for some reason, which doesn't match up with any limits on the forum.

And what is the point at which this happens? How many characters?

If you're running php as fcgi, it could be a setting there too (FcgidMaxRequestLen, FcgidMaxRequestsPerProcess or several others)

The 404 not found error could be your error page that should be displayed is not being found for some reason. Check your server logs for why the 404 error is showing up.

You set whether the application is posted, sent by PM, or sent by email when editing/creating the Application Position.
