Well , here are my thoughts... it starts off Great, really nice header you got going on , unique , with style and eye candy , very well done there, the logo i very neat , i like your ninja you got there..
However.. and here is the dilemma... you started good, but soon as i get to the navigation im confronted with a very dull design.. Stock vBulletin navigation and , just a couple color changes here and there..
It looks like a great header , stacked on top of vBulletin default design , i would recommend working a bit more on your header so it doesnt look like it got chopped off, and pasted on the header..
You still have some default "blue" colors here and there, look for those stylevars and change them...
It looks like your off to a good start however, keep working on your style , and im sure you can achieve a great unique site... keep up the good work ... Customize the menus too , that would be nice ;) .
Overall i would rate a 6 out of 10 , and thats because of a good nice header you got going on , hope it helps .
Regards!

If you take your time and develop a nice background... one that goes well with your header and flows down the page to a certain point then half of the stuff Xtrato mentioned will not be that noticeable, the grey is killing it softly imo.

Darken the background and ignore all the other stuff, some people just try and comment to try and get your business. It's a simple and clean design but I just think the background could be darker. Looks good!

The style is actually about 97% flawless - that soft grey background is killing it softly - just like thelastsuperman stated LOL -- perhaps do a soft grey/red/soft grey gradient? You may also try doing a bit of hover styling with your main links. onhover - perhaps black underlined instead of a simple underlining. Your forum icons could be better too. Perhaps you might consider using smaller and/or edited version of your caricature logo instead of those generic folder icons? That would make your overall 'branding' more solid. Also - quarters are not golden - but then again - if your CPALead stats are up - could be golden quarters in your pocket :P
Overall - a very VERY nice style! Now I'd say tis time to get your promotional/advertising game on :)
Good luck!
Jacquii.
btw - a 6 out of 10 rating is extremely low for what the OP has accomplished and perhaps more than a bit unfair imo
the style is sophisticated,simple and effective. Can't ask for much more than that...

hmm , well , see , as i stated.. the top looks amazing.. but if you scroll down , the effectiveness of the header gets killed off by the stock vBulletin ( with a change of color ) ... i think if he was able to create such a header, he can certainly improve his website by further customizing it.. that would make his site stand out a lot more .
thanks guys - i will work on a bg and custom stat images tonight!

what superman was mentioning , was to creat a background that complements your header... so you slowly fade the background so it seems that the header is part of the site..

Or... continue the header background all the way across, using the image add the gradient fade below here's an example:

Hmm not bad Xtrato and imk new idea... the forum status icons... why not remove the padding on the left so it looks like the ninja head come right from the edge since your not framing the icons kwim? Think about it ;)

it's a good start but...
header is too big - it's crying for attention; the last thing you want is for the reader to continue focusing on the header
you want the reader's attention on reading content - and, hopefully creating content
let me put it this way...
there's a naked person doing acrobats at a convention that you and your buddies are attending - where do you think everyone will be at?
lose the header
the same applies to the shout box
def not gonna loose it but thanks
and thank guys - if any of you can make this happen pm me a quote!

I agree with Princeton , he has a point, i do agree strongly with the shoutbox, waste of space and good content ...
The header is crying for attention!, and unless you get rid of it , or make the rest of the page just as striking as the header , it will look unbalanced.. i can help out if you want , just pm me though im a little busy atm,.

Nice change on the icons. I like the background gradient as posted by xtrato. I was thinking maybe something like this but not so bold. It's a background I created for a client site some time ago...
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/05/10.gif
css code would be as the following or similar:
body {
background-color: #c8c8c8;
background-image:url(background_image_name.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
background-position: top;
background-attachment: fixed;
}
Also - it wouldn't hurt a bit to have a 2px solid black border around your content - a preview would look similar to:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2011/05/11.gif
I must say I disagree with Princeton though. The first thing a person will see is your header/logo -- you want that first impression be be a lasting one. And what better way to make a good, lasting impression than introducing visitors to your site's content with a very solidly designed header that speaks well of your brand. Sure if your tastes veer towards a very small logo, then that's good too. But you have a solidly designed header - I like it anyway. It wouldn't turn me off a bit.
Also the shoutbox is obviously shown to members only? I have a shoutbox on my poetry forum and locate it at the top on most all forum pages. Some people abhor shoutboxxes - I like them...
Jacquii.
until active i have removed the shoutbox
thanks so much for the help guys - gna ^install that 2moz!
